The only way to step back and have a private life, which is what they say they want, is to stop talking to all media and just be private citizens.
When did they say that ?

They didn't.When did they say that ?
This. A couple of hypocrites to boot.because they specifically left the active royal family because they didnt like the press intrusion into their lives, which is fair enough, sections of the press treated them appallingly.
but they then immediately invited the press into their lives again and again and again
But thats not how the press, and media in general, works
You cant pick and choose who you talk to.
If you choose to talk to one outlet then the rest will want to speak to you and therefore you will suffer press intrusion.
You have to be monumentally stupid not to realise thats how it works.

I have lots of sympathy for them both regarding their treatment when they were active members of the royal family, the media were disgusting. I completely understood when they stepped down from that active role. I also understood doing an interview to put their version of events in the public domain. But beyond that I just dont understand how they expect not to be harassed by the media when they keep engaging with it.
There is nowhere that you will be able to find a quote from them that states that they specifically left because of press intrusion. In fact, they issued a public denial of that because opponents had created this lie.This. A couple of hypocrites to boot.
Nonsense. For one they never said they were withdrawing from public life just that they wanted to live as private citizens. Also the idea that they could simply fade away into obscurity, even if they wanted to, is absurd. Do you seriously think that even if they had kept quiet the British press would stop writing about them? Thanks for explaining. I couldn't have put it any better.
They could just retire completely from public life and do some quiet charity work on the side. They have plenty of money to live happily ever after. But seemingly they don't have enough money and certainly don't want to leave the public eye.
Such a silly simplistic view.
They are high profile individuals. Too high profile for a 9-5 job. Fair enough, she could go back to acting but, no, she can't cos she married royalty.
He can't do a 9-5, can he? Nor rejoin the army cos he'd be a target in whatever regiment he'd be in.
His only choice is to open the pandora's box he held, inviting certain vipers into his space under HIS control.
Can't blame him caught between a rock and a hard place hating the press and dealing with the media, loving some of his family and hating the monarchy.
Not a place I'd rather be, but some think it's great to feel isolated and crying into his millions.
It's so dumb as a thought process.
Thanks for explaining. I couldn't have put it any better.

They didn’t need to do a 9-5 for financial reasons. They could have done plenty of good charity work to fill their time. They took the decision to blow the lid off royal family life which sounds a lot like any other family TBF. It certainly wasn’t their only choice.
