I’m glad they didn’t stay away in silence and instead have come back with number 1 Netflix, book, Spotify etc - good on them!

Yeh, go in the Co Op and there's endless magazines of front page hatred towards Meghan , all for little old Doris to go home, lap up every word and tell her neighbour how horrible that Meghan is.

There is nowhere that you will be able to find a quote from them that states that they specifically left because of press intrusion. In fact, they issued a public denial of that because opponents had created this lie.

When he met Meghan in 2016, Harry recalled in his Netflix documentary Hary & Meghan that he “was terrified of her being driven away by the media—the same media who’d driven so many people away from me.”

That just one of several quotes from Harry about media intrusion into their private lives being the reason they stepped down from Royal duties and moved to the US.

Point being money had been cut off, so what else was they supposed to do? Harry, also, had a lot to get off his chest being out of that family.

He's made family issues a normal thing even for rich people and yet people on here love seeing it in 'Succession'!

He still had the income from his mothers estate I believe. He wasn’t ever going to be on his bare bones.

There is some blame on both sides here. In the first instance the royal family didn’t take their complaints seriously a bit of a keep calm and carry on approach. This deteriorated the family relationship so the initial fault lay with Charles and the queen and potentially William if he didn’t back his brother. The Sussex’s fired a couple of warning shots that continued to be ignored. The announcement by the Sussex’s to step back from royal life was poorly handled by them although their frustrations and reasons were entirely understandable.

Everything since then has been a car crash largely of their own making. If nothing else it’s given hostile parts of the press (whom they had previously called out as such) a free swing at them. Public opinion is largely now in 2 camps. Anything they say or do is going to play into the preconceptions of those 2 camps. Only a very public “blameless” reconciliation with the king and William will likely help now in the court of public opinion, petty point scoring needs to be left to one side - like issuing a statement about not having decided on attending the coronation is another daft move by them. Sometimes saying nowt is best.

I find this a fascinating view. The whole monarchy has an arrangement with the press, and fills the front pages of some national papers, daily. This is well known, and has been the case for decades. Why is that acceptable, but Meghan and Harry speaking to other media outlets not?

Never said it wasn't acceptable, just they specifically gave this as one of the reasons why they were stepping down. Now they sell their own story every 3mths or so.

They could just retire completely from public life and do some quiet charity work on the side. They have plenty of money to live happily ever after. But seemingly they don't have enough money and certainly don't want to leave the public eye.

I think you could equally argue that its they themselves making sure they are centre stage in the media could you not? They don't really need to do this do they?? They could happily live off the millions they already have.

I couldn't care less about them or the royal land stealers but I do like how they have upset the gammon population so much, they really really hate Meghan and the right wing press feeds this. Great to wind them up about Meghan should be the queen and Kate is a nasty little brat, which is true.
