Pointless transfer window really, at least we learned our lesson about panic buying.

    Wright, Maicon, Rodwell and Garcia.

Unfathomably ridiculous for a club who’d just won the league.

    FFP came hard that year.

Nastasic as well, although he was more use than the above 4.

This is true but selling Mario when we did was probably up there with the best bits of business in the last 10 years.

Wasn't there talk PSG were willing to pay 60m for him after Euro 2012? Should have snapped their hands off, although the money would have been better spent on a winger than Van Persie, we had zero width in 2012/13.

We've done pretty well generally in the transfer market, apart from 2012, but for various reasons (maybe some beyond the club's control?) those five would definitely have improved us or strengthened the squad at the time we were interested in them.

It's less frustrating if a player snubs us for a favoured manager, or sunnier climate, nothing we can do, but baulking at an extra few million in fees is extremely annoying when rivals benefit from our reticence to say a big fuck off to ffp. Owner wants the CL trophy, we need CL final level signings.

We also spent a lot on some average and shit players, but all teams do.

Got a lot of strengthening to do. 2 fullbacks, a striker, 1 or 2 CBs and at least 1 DM or CM that can play Fernandinho’s role.

Not sure we can afford all that.
