Cheers for the explanation and at least I an now better informed. I will accept my ignorance to the fact that GB did not include N Ireland, which makes it strange why it was originally done.

Maybe she needs £40 worth, but is worried that one might run out leaving others without fuel, so she goes about putting in £5 at 8 stations on her route to ensure she doesnt take too.much from any one. Like a modern day diesel robin hood.
 
Panic buying and hoarding should be sanctioned with a fine.

Or maybe she is on a low income and doesn't have much money until she gets paid so put the fiver in to keep her going until pay day because she has been running on fumes for the past few days.

Perhaps she went to fill up but realised she had left her purse at home but, looking in the glove compartment she found a fiver an........ yeh right.
