The idiocy (and selfishness) of panic buying

What is driving this is fear and lack of leadership, the fear element is everyone knows we are going to go into full lock down, and people are frightened to be left out, it's been generated by years of Tory rule and the beggar thy neighbour approach that this has caused this crisis may have a positive upside to it, people can now see that worker exploitation (Zero hours contracts) our reliance of supermarkets and their just in time ordering, our reliance of imported food stuff (we could and should be producing much more of our own food) are not good ideas nor is the pursuit of huge shareholder profits, perhaps when we come out of the other side we will be a much kinder nation?
We have to be better at producing our own food, not just as a nation, but as households.

We should all be growing our own chillis indoors, and of anyone has a garden they should grow their own veg. We should have apple trees.

I share a communal garden with seven other flats and there’s nothing growing in any of it. I’m going to call a meeting when this is over and see if anyone else fancies chipping in for a greenhouse so we can grow some of our own stuff.

Hate to say or ask .....and I'm going all Jeremy Vine here but...when does looting begin.
I don’t know but you only have to remember 2011 when it all started in just a few short hours. It was carnage in the city centre, a complete free for all. One minute it was a normal day, a few hours later your old next door neighbour was on the 22:00 news on CCTV footage running out of Dixons with an 42” Panasonic Viera.

The blitz is often romanticised.

I’ve read on it quite a bit and spoken to several people, including family, around at the time.

People often stole from each other, trampled over each other to get into the underground, when the sirens went off and even the fire brigade looted.

That said, as we’ll never do, they didn’t give in to the terror.
Maybe but West Gorton and Ardwick were not like that. However London and Coventry got it even worse so all anecdotal .

Panic on the streets of Britain very soon, I mean looting, riots because of pubs closing, people might laugh at that but I can definitely see it happening from thick bastards. Brawls in supermarkets spiralling out of control, nasty nasty times ahead here.

Right you lot. Just thought I'd let you know that today I finished my current job, because as of the 30th March I start as the Property Project Manager for Tesco in the north. First order of business is to install cages to the bog roll racking!

PS. Dont go thinking that I can be bought for a few doughnuts........Well custard filled ones may get you an in.

Not worried about looting, to be fair if shops are staying open and can keep up supply.

It's when people start breakig into homes and stealing from each other we will know it has all gone to shit.
This is the end game, if it comes to it. But before this we'll see martial law, complete lock down attempts. Maybe the doomsday preppers had it right.
