There is a god Barry's gone!!!
I have to say since Mancini has taken over Pat Dolan at the Star has been his biggest fan and this week in his write up Pat strikes again with some great pro Mancini write up.
Here is some of the quotes from the write up its a shame there is no on line link to be able to pass on as its a good read.

" The money coming into City has changed a lot of things in the league but what it has not changed is the bitter jealousy of smooth foreigners who come into English football and take one of the big jobs.
Mancini is a footballing giant. And he has done a remarkable job in taming the mess that Mark Hughes left behind and trying to make the team look as impressive as the hundreds of millions of Euro that have bankrolled the clubs success. "

" For people to pretend that the only reason Mancini has been successful at City is because of money is to be ignorant of his career , and conveniently forget that Mark Hughes spent £247m and could only take them to 10th. Money is an advantage when it comes to buying power but with it come expectation and pressure , and Mancini has had it from day 1. To not acknowledge the management talent that brought City an FA Cup , their first trophy since 1976 beating Man Utd in the semi final by the way and then following it up with the big one the league tiltle 12 months later is plain stupid. "

" The champions league is something Mancini will have to put on his cv before he can be considered to be one of the true greats. But he is only 47 and I am sure he hopes that it does not take him as long as it took Fergie to win one for Man Utd. And when Fergie won his first he was 10 years older. Those that want to put the boot into Mancini when City are in the group with the champions of Germany , Spain and Holland are only criticising him because thats what they do best. Perspective and fairness are never as satisfying to these people as instant judgement , even when they have been wrong so many times about the Italian. "

" Rememeber the Tevez saga? That was supposed to have finished Mancini. Not only did he win that battle he did what Fergie could not do and has got Tevez hungry and playing the best football of his career. He has got to win a champions league bu contrary to what some might say it does not have to be this year. For those in the know , he has got a lot of credit with Sheikh Mansour. The lemons have been predicting the end of the Mancini-City era from day 1 they'll be waiting a while yet. What a great job the guy has done and anyone who says anything different is simply having a laugh. I say as I'm sure City fans do too , thank God for Mancini. "

Not a bad write up there is more in it than that but its a great positive read about Mancini.

Word Pat.

Well Dolan used to manage a couple of teams in Ireland for a few years. Started out at Arsenal but never made it there like so many young players and was hit badly with injuries now a tv pundit and writer. His pieces in his write ups can be well worth a look at in the paper. Talks a lot of sense from time to time.

I don't feel happy at some Mancini's decisions pretty often but anyone who says he is not great manager overall is idiot.

Again, he has his weaknesses but he also has a trophy per season in his managerial career in 4 different clubs, not something many managers could say about themselves.

Including some on here.
'The Lemons' — is that Gaelic for 'Cabal'?

:)

Good article ... it's a shame the British press in general have an aversion to "foreigners". You need only look at the "Villa Boas has three games to save his job" shite from a few weeks back, whilst Hughes is still safe as houses.

" . . . . . only criticising him because thats what they do best."

This just about sums up 100% of the crap that emanates from most Rag journos and Rag pundits.

They can't see one iota of anything that is positive about the Sheikh's money and the value that Mancini has accrued using it.

The simple fact remains that if their club had been on the receiving end of such largesse then all their current arguments would be stood on their head, and they would be spouting from Anfield to The Emirates to The Swamp how good it is for football, and we wouldn't hear one single bleat about FFP. On the contrary, the CEOs of those clubs would be hammering away how it shouldn't be introduced into the PL.
