The "Just got back" from Barnsley thread..

Interesting thread. The Barnsley commentators made it out like they dominated the rich oil merchants.

Funnily enough, we seem to have appointed Toure manager:

We were the better team and had the vast majority of the ball (as you'd expect). Think their commentators were being a bit one-eyed.

My thoughts from elsewhere:

was a decent game. Bellamy and Adebayor not on the same wavelength, but that's to be expected. Were guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net on more than one occasion, but some of the build up play was promising - mostly involving Ireland. Adebayor was really unlucky when he hit the bar and then the rebound just evaded him, and Robbie had a good shot against the woodwork. De Jong also did well.

Weiss came on for the last 20 and was direct as ever, but he needs to learn to put his head up. He reminds me of SWP when he was first breaking into the team.

Barnsley's goal was a good finish by their man, although McGivern let the ball past him and then Ben-Haim was completely beaten by the striker (not really sure who to apportion blame to as I've only seen it once, and it was at the other end of the ground). Simple goal from City, low cross from Ireland and a tap-in for Petrov at the far post.

We also looked more dangerous from corners with Toure and Adebayor in there.

Wouldn't be too concerned by the result - we could have had more and the players are still learning to play together.

Someone on Bluevibe disagreed with me re: de Jong but I thought he did a very good job of nullifying their attacks. Thought Zab also did well when he came on (at left and right back) and Garrido was very tidy as well.

Also got to agree with the comments about Toure talking to the other defenders all the time, especially Ned. I can see him quickly becoming a fan favourite.

Did anyone see Macken and Toure's fall out. 5 mins later they were bestest buds!

What formation did we play? From reports seems to have been a 442 with robbie on the left and swp on the right and ade and bellamy up front?

That I saw Brüno.

A good day out, played pretty well in parts but obviously need to get to know each other a lot more. Toure oozed class!
Still worried about left back too many crosses coming in the box. With more match fitness would have scored a few i think, just slightly of the pace in that regard.

Jon Macken was excellent for them and their goal was a terrific finish once the lad was gifted the freedom of the park by TBH.

Petrov barely celebrated other than pointing to his name and Walked off alone before everyone else at full time.

The queue for drinks was a joke!!!!!!!!!

All in all an enjoyable trip, just would have been nice to score a few to shut those wankers on sky up.

Roll on Wednesday :)
