The Labour Government

Yeah, they seem to be doing their utmost to fuck up every single announcement they make don’t they.
They are certainly a different beast to what I was expecting now they are in power.

Not quite at Tory levels of cuntishness yet but heading in the right (wrong) direction.

Will revisit when things calm down, they were always going to have a rough start after the last lot but they certainly don’t help themselves.

I do wish the govt' would stop calling it a "Tough Decision". It wasn't, it was the action of a flat-track bully against a section of the public who couldn't fight back.
The speed with which the announcement was made convinces me it was planned well before they took office and regardless of any "financial black hole (actual or otherwise).

I did hear one of the Tories (Cleverly?) say that the treasury have offered this option or every chancellor since Labour last left office and, in his words, “none have been naive enough” to agree to it. Which fits with your thoughts on the speed of the announcement and a general sense this government have been a bit naive.

You can forgive them naivety but once they realised their mistake instead of delaying and/or adjusting it they just kept punching down and that’s not forgivable.

Thing is this new drug actually bloody works, if you can get one to lose weight so they can get an operation so they can get back to work then I don’t see the problem, I have more of an issue if giving it to fat cunts who will just carry on doing fuck all.

In principle getting people to lose weight is good for their long term health so it makes sense to offer it on NHS. I’ll assume they aren’t planning linking it to benefits given you simply can’t jab a cohort against their will.

However weight problems often have underlying causes like depression as well so if we don’t treat them holistically it might end up being a bit pointless.

Yep. They're just inherently evil people.

What's 'inherently evil' about it?

It's a fact that obesity is a growing (no pun intended) problem for individual and society, and has a huge impact on the NHS.

These are potentially revolutionary drugs, which have already been approved by NICE and have been used on the NHS for some time.

The plan is for a trial of the drug, which looks at extending its use, and then looking at how people's lives have changed.

The quotes from Streeting don't make judgments about people's weight, and the quote about work is that "For many people, these weight-loss jabs will be life-changing, help them get back to work, and ease the demands on our NHS."

People aren't going to be forced to take a jab, and then told to report to the job centre the next day.

It beggars belief to think that improving the health of the population, and helping improve the health of people who want to work, but can't, is now considered evil.
