The Labour Government

I'm not really sure what any of that means )

Retail giant Next made 1 BILLION in profit last year and the ceo is today moaning and telling us the lowest paid and first job will lose out because Next has to pay an extra 70m in NI.
I agree that self sourcing is important, but you are also simultaneously agreeing with Trump/Putin.

And that's the layman's explanation...

I think we need the idiot's guide.
Simplified:

NI Employer Contribution increase is going to result in a massive cost to the employer leaving two impacts:

1) Public Sector - Inflationary mechanisms mean that there are less potholes fixed for the money provided, or less elderly people to be cared for within the budget.

2) Private Sector - If it is no longer a business model then they will fold. If it is an international model then they either put their prices up for the consumer or cease to trade in the U.K. because it is no longer viable.

When you say "massive cost", what's "massive"?

Even in a labour-intensive industry, let's say 50% of costs is wages (including taxes). So a 1.2% increase in NI would equate to what, less than 1% on overall costs (and most firms will not be labour-intensive)? Rising commercial rents are probably as much an issue in many cases - one of the reasons why so many pubs close, when pubcos force out existing tenants in pursuit of higher rent, don't find anyone so close the pub.

NI cost will be £900k direct + agency pass on, against a £120M T/O company. So you are looking at 0.75%. Meanwhile, the FLW is rising exponentially, so that is going to double fold all of that. My point is the cost of living is going to go up and up and up.

am looking forward to the day when the remove in-work benefits and ask employers to pay people what the need to pay employees to live on or admit they have no viable business model because their business is a benefit scrounger and go bust - the Brew Dog guy is worth £262m + but thinks paying all his staff £1 an hour to meet the living wage is excessive and wants them to have no rights - its time for people to boycott him and other businesses like TESCO into oblivion and watch these cunts whine its not fair

Absolutely. The economic sleight of hand that is in work benefits means we get all the drawbacks of a nationalised industry (tax payer funded). Any suggestion that this stops is met with cries of job losses and higher prices - putting a dent in vast profit margins never seems to be an option for some reason. The big supermarkets are some of the worst for this.

And dividends will go down and down and down?

I agree businesses, not the tax payers, should pay people enough to live on. Not sure taxing business more is the way to achieve that.

The minimum wage is a good way to encourage that, what's missing is an increase in the tax thresholds at the bottom and higher rates for very high earners.

I see they are trying to raise the age you can retire. Apparently they want to raise it from 66 to 67 which for people in there 30/40s won’t make a great deal of difference.
I’ve read that if you were born after April 1960 they want it to be 67.
I was born June 1960 and scheduled to retire sept 2026. I have paid in 47 years in NI stamps 49 years by the time I retire.
If this is announced in the spring budget they would effectively giving me one years notice to up my retirement age and then means testing it.
How much notice did the waspi women get?

On top of this they are looking at changing employers rules in that they can’t make you retire if you don’t want to.

If this goes ahead then employers CAN make you leave if they think you can no longer do the job or offer you another position on minimum wage.

When the tories said be careful what you wish for I was sceptical but this labour government on top of all the woke shite
Are fucking thieves.

I may not be politically savvy but fuck me
These cunts really don’t give a fuck about my generation.
