The Labour Government

Is a stupid question anyway. It’s like asking him how many he’s turned round at Dover.

I've got a busy household. I've been obliged to put up three rapists in the loft and have a paedophile living in the garage, and two child aged killers in a tree house in the garden because I don't believe capital punishment is a good idea.

Don't think I could put up a family of illegals without upsetting the delicate balance and inviting more attention from social services.

Sounds like you need to upsize.

Either that or dig out a cellar.

Yes it is but I cannot help but think it is an action being taken by Labour to visually display to Britain what they are actually doing as at the moment their optics on taxation, employment and the economy are not looking so good.
The economy may look a little healthier if 600,000 ILLEGAL immigrants weren't here ILLEGALLY, contributing little or nothing to the exchequer, but receiving tax payer £ pounds £ in benefits, along with access to the NHS.

ILLEGAL.....young males, fashion dressed with mobile phones and no ID, (which is probably at the bottom of the channel) , what don't people understand ??

If the ILLEGAL immigrants want freedom from alleged repression and all their other complaints , why don't they stay in the first EU country their boat lands in, where they will be free ??

Europe, the EU, is vastly bigger, richer and has more national choice than the UK

I'd like to read your views.

How do illegal immigrants get benefits?

You got a problem with caps lock?

Can you confirm who you mean by ‘illegals’, I take it you mean those that are here without authority and are not seeking asylum?

Agree 100% with what you have written.

Nobody coming across the channel can claim they are escaping war and persecution because the last I heard there was no war in France.

My view is due to the fact we have no houses for thousands of people who live here, we cannot provide good and adequate health services for the people who live here and our schools are overcrowded and as they have chosen to arrive illegally their application should not even be entertained and they should be deported.

Apologies, I was attempting to highlight the base fundamental at the core of the issue which is.....
.....'illegal immigration' in all & any form.

Usually, as the population grows, civilised countries build infrastructure to support it. We, under previous governments, maybe this one, have failed to look after our society.

Asylum seekers are a very small number, with the small boat issue not being seen until we voted to leave the EU and cancel the Dublin agreement. I, personally, having worked with some, have absolutely no issue with genuine asylum seekers coming to this country.

Whether they come via small boats, underside of lorries, or by other means, agreed international law gives them legal recourse to be processed in the country of their choice, once arrived.

We have failed in our duty to our people and our international obligations, and now, instead of being honest in our failings, we turn to those that have even less than ourselves, and beat them down even more.

State of the intellect in our country!

Very true, but we do not have political leaders with the courage to say so and address wealth inequality which fuels resentment of immigrants competing for diminishing resources.
This creates a nice niche for the far right and facism.

Hate the use of caps lock, just stops people debating real issues.

Just to confirm, you’re not talking about the near million that were allowed into the country legitimately, just the 20ish % of those who travelled by boat who will not gain leave to remain under the international asylum seekers scheme. So, about 10,000 per year under the previous government?

It’s interesting, and as we’re in the Labour thread, I’m sure I’ve seen them bringing through policies to support wage growth for those on minimum wage, support to social systems, including the NHS and house rental reforms, that the lower paid will benefit from

Yet, all I read is how the well off, compared to those, will be impacted as they’ll get less of a dividend, or those who have a private pension, will lose out.

Strange world.

I think we are possibly seeing the beginning of the end of capitalism in terms of it's ability to deliver increasing living standards for all. Low economic growth but the rich get richer while the coming generations are likely to be successiveley poor than the last (which has not been the case since ww2 really). The lie of 'trickle down' economics is becoming ever more exposed - migrants are a handy scapegoat.

There are a lot of overstayers from Australia and New Zealand - and will tend to fly to London and we aren't in the EU now.

Even asylum seekers have No Recourse to Public Funds/Benefits but get a subsistence amount of under £9 a day, but there are different attitudes to helping those already given leave to remain in the resettlement programmes depending on where they come from, as the Ukrainians had people jumping over themselves to help, but not the Syrians or Afghanistanis.

Caps don't prevent debate, even if you don't like them. Each to their own.

I can't be any clearer

Small boats, large boats, lorries, vans, trains and under carriages of planes were being used by illegal immigrants in their thousands before Brexit.

Italy and France are large, affluent and beautiful multi cultural countries with generally pleasant climates.

Why do you think thousands of illegal male immigrants between 18 / 30, trek through those countries to live in squalor on the streets of Lille & Calais, then in cardboard camps in Sangatte, to pay their £1000s £ in cash to more criminals, to jump in rubber dingies and ribbs to enter the UK illegally....cos it ain't for the weather !!

Tell the forum why ?

Illegals are illegal whether they are from Australia or Africa, New Zealand or New Delhi.

Illegal is the definition !!
