I read the link but Vic asked whether I'd read the judgment. I doubt even he's read the judgment and if he tells me he has, I still wouldn't believe him anyway. The crux of the judgment seems to be that a Gazan family have claimed asylum on a scheme specifically for Ukrainian people which almost everyone (including Sir Two-Tier himself) agrees is another warped example of judicial overreach.

That's why we need to get back to elected representatives deciding who comes into this country rather than activist children of Guardian writers:

I'm happy to hold my views on broken Britain and the multiple contributory reasons.

Other European countries would probably keep more illegal immigrants if their benefits systems were as lucrative as the UKs or their exit border security was up to scratch.

Sanctions for breaking the law should fit the crime.

Just heard that on the radio. Apparently from 16 years ago when she was at HBOS where no investigation or disciplinary action was taken over a £140.00 bag that she bought on expenses for her boss of a private company who were promoting ‘buy your colleague something special on expenses’.

I don’t understand why anybody would drag something like this up from 16 years ago, never mind the rest of the crap that’s got certain people frothing.

The universal outrage is probably on the basis of both the fact their case was heard on the basis of the Ukrainian scheme AND the fact that the judge thought not living in the same country as your brother deprives you of your human rights. Not sure it's worth arguing over which was the most outrageous abuse of process or law.

But the fundamental point is that elected representatives should make law and decide who comes into the country not lily-livered Guardianistas in a wig.

Because it's a crime. If you don't think lying on your CV to get a job far beyond your paygrade should be a crime then fair enough. Lots of people probably do it but jobs that have serious consequences if any old chancer gets it like a heart surgeon or, I don't know, the Chancellor Of The Exchequer of the UK, maybe there should be legal and/or political consequences.

But if you choose to do it to take a high profile public job then by the simple process of applying common sense then surely you have to expect recriminations.
