The Labour Government

Hi AHT
The status quo must end, if it does not then only bankruptcy awaits. I have been of the view that only this conclusion will be enough to shake us out of our complacency and I am not sure even now it can be averted.
As for WW3 that is more likely if we do nothing , if we face into our problems that can be averted.
It is therefore my view it those that support the current status quo that do not have a thought as to where this will lead us.
If you are concerned about your mental wellbeing then you are right it is better not to debate on here. I hope I haven't troubled you too much.
Take care of yourself.
You’re a foreign bot. You have no investment in the U.K., yet you are campaigning for madness.

Goodbye Hertzblue. I don’t wish you well in your campaign, but have to question why you have decided to infect a U.K. football fan forum to try and poison people.

The Twitter bots are evolving.

The truth hertz.

Good news this morning that the UK economy has generated over 200000 new jobs since November. Mentioned briefly on LBC but not a subject raised with the government minister on LBC by Nick Ferrari.

Didn’t the ‘status quo’ end with Brexit, wasn’t that meant to bring us glorious sunny uplands, no more scary boat people and we’ll all prosper with hundreds of new schools and hospitals - how did that go ?

Haven’t America once again ended the status quo by voting for a deranged racist loon who will ‘Make America Great Again’ - how’s that going ?

You vote for charlatans like Farage and Trump then you get what you deserve.
Ironically mate both us and America got those things you mentioned because of the status quo There isn't anyone in charge of our country at the moment that isn't an establishment fptp loving remainer from what I can see.

Politicians are usually adept at mentioning good news whether asked or not in fairness fella.

Well she didn't as the interview was mainly about trade and China. NF even tried to find out how much the UK has paid the US for a consignment of coking coal. He really is getting worse.

How on earth are you Labour Lefties going to be able to survive? Labour getting into bed and all cosy with Trump and the US?.

I see Lammy and Vance are together shaking hands on the fact that the US and UK have a great relationship, in part due to the fact we are not in the EU (thanks to Brexit).

The Labour government are working closely with Trump and his Government to reach a great agreement.... oh dear oh dear oh dear, what are all the Labour loving Trump haters going to do? I do wonder.

JD Vance says US and UK 'working very hard' on trade deal and will come to a 'great agreement'

Mr Vance also said the "reciprocal relationship" between the US and UK gives Britain a more advantageous position than other European countries when it comes to negotiating new trade arrangements.

I have no cogent argument to this so can only conclude you are a bot or wum. I only enjoy reading opinions I agree with so am putting you on ignore. Goodbye.

Why does a labour voter have to be a "lefty"?

Unfortunately running a country sometimes involves having to deal with regimes that you don't always agree with-a bit like your justification for voting Reform!! But whatever happens, Trump won't be there in 4 years but we and the US still will and global trade will still be taking place.

And if you truly believe it's a thanks to Brexit that we're being treated differently, then you've either ignored or not seen how the tariffs were calculated.

Now bugger off you right wing, racist, Reform voter!!!! lol

See how easy it is to club everyone together??

You get a Trump or Farage when a majority of the electorate perceive that the normal political discourse is failing them.
So no , the status quo has not ended, the normal political discourse is failing the majority of the electorate and change must come . Your man Tony Blair wrote recently that it is no longer enough to offer to manage the status quo. He sees real change is required and judging by @Postman Pep’s Hard Labour post , it is also dawning on Starmer.
Farage and Reform were pulling Starmer ( reluctantly) to the right, Trump has picked him up and thrown him to the right . If he keeps going I might end up voting for him myself . On that respect Farage’s work will be done.
Is that what you voted for ?

Starmer is a millions miles away from the populist mysoginistic racist facist fuckwits that are Trump and Farage.
Sorting out the NHS and Train disputes that were ongoing for years and years, increasing minimum wage, reforming workers rights are proof of that.

Frothing a bit there mate.
Didn’t Mussolini make the trains run on time ?

I get that people think Starmer is doing insufficient/not trying at all to arrest the increasing inequalities in society and so some have given up on him and this incarnation of Labour.

What I don't get is why they might consider voting Reform as a way of addressing the situation. History and the formbook would suggest that Reform would make things significantly worse either through incompetence, policy or both.

It's like saying my hand is being held on a hotplate so I'm going to free my hand but then I'm going to slap my entire tackle on said hotplate.

Even if you do hold the view that immigration is a problem it's a million miles from being the main issue this country faces. It's like someone is attacking you with a chainsaw but you decide you're going to focus instead on the bloke who's annoying you by tickling your foot with a feather.

Anyone who wants to vote for Reform as a howl of impotent rage is obviously entitled to but they should do so on the basis that it might feel good for a moment or two but you/we end up in an even worse place than we are now. I guess there are possibly some people who think the chaos they would bring about would ultimately cause some sort of later reset but that strikes me as setting fire to yourself in the hope that it turns out you are in fact part human/part phoenix.

I think if you've had enough of the mainstream political parties, a view I have significant sympathy with, there's a few things you can do to feel less powerless:

Join a local organisation aimed at helping people who are struggling from all sorts of perspectives.
Join one of the various campaign groups for electoral reform.
Sit at home on your sofa crafting voodoo dolls of the government and opposition if you must.

In fact do anything other than the self-harm of voting for Reform.
