The Labour Government

I don't usually go to Robert Jenrick to get my analysis of Labour policy - normally because of this divisive racist slant he puts on everything as seen here. Its because of his poisonous views that he misses his point but makes my point admirably -. he was a member of a failed govt who in its last term allowed legal migration to sky rocket by handing out visa's for fun because they were aware of the need to replace the EU workers that were not coming back or the plain truth of the failure of the Brexit project would be there to see. In this case if people from India are coming here to work on visa's for up to 3 years that means they are going back home in 3 years and not adding to the numbers here. Not entirely sure that this was quite the zinger Nazi Bob thinks it was

Fair. Sienna is usually alright for Labour news though.

Two announcements today that will do good for the country - but Labour did them so the 3 main news channels report them as "men - no biggie" Thats what Labour are up against

That trade deal with India sounds like a great thing, and something that has been ongoing for some time (Sunak was also working hard for it), so good to see we’ve got it over the line.

There’ll be a backlash though, when these trade deals are done then there’s always give and take, and that will be jumped upon by the other side of the house, even if it is negligible.

Huge numbers of people have stayed after there visas though. You say they’re not adding to the numbers - I don’t know how you’ve come to that conclusion?

I’m fairly certain this trade deal will mean a huge spike in Indians coming to work in the UK.

I’m interested to know if you think not paying national insurance for 3 years is a good thing. It completely undercuts uk workers and encourages employers to export cheap labour in my view.

There are a limited number of Visa's to be issued - read the full news report before jumping to conclusions - as they are coming on a work visa they will be subject to the NHS surcharge currently £1035 per person per year

You call it give and take, I call it me paying NI for 3 years whilst an Indian worker can come and do the same job and not pay a penny?

Care to explain how that’s good and why I should embrace it?

I think this is the worrying part of this. If you’ve just come out of uni and your looking at becoming say a developer, your chances of getting a job have been reduced even more.

A lot of jobs in tech have been moving abroad, but you will now have employers able to get people on the cheap and not pay national insurance. Smacks of unfairness.

Some of the biggest companies in the uk are India owned as well - there’s no way they won’t use this,

There we go. I’ll leave you to read the full detail, analyse it, and come to your own conclusion.

The devil is always in the detail with these things. If, and I hope it doesn't, open up the opportunity for cheap labour to flood the service sector then you can kiss goodbye to most junior and mid level people in IT, Engineering, Science, R&D, Biomed. The only jobs that will be left in these sectors will be senior positions and no training for younger people in these fields as its cheaper to import them.

Easier if you just said you couldn’t tbh instead of blindly clapping a Labour policy like a sea-lion even if it’s fucking shite again.

More cheap Labour to flood the UK job market is what he has signed up to and they get a fucking tax break ffs.

The Press Release said, "The agreement will only cover a very specific and limited group of Indian business people"

That suggests it's not going to be a flood of cheap labour.

As I said devil will be in the detail. I hope that I am not correct.

Really? , I understand Jenrick is more magnanimous and often refers to these pages to see how @bluethrunthru reacts to policy etc before finalising his own opinion as he likes to understand the views of slavish Progressive ideologues and amuse himself at how they manage to support every Progressive totem beyond the point of reason.
Anyway, he was a member of failed government but did at least have the decency to resign his position when he wasn't allowed to do the job he was supposed to do with immigration - that allows him some validity in my opinion.
As for ....
In this case if people from India are coming here to work on visa's for up to 3 years that means they are going back home in 3 years and not adding to the numbers here.
Lol..
You really believe they just go home ? You need a reality check on that I am afraid.
Finally have a good think on this one. Why is it so important to the Indian government to get this visa deal ? why has it always been a deal breaker for them ?

Exactly that !

Pointless explaining to those who don’t want to see.

Enjoy your anger.

Not quite how The Times of India are reporting it. In particular ...

li1India obtains crucial assurances regarding digital service delivery, encompassing sectors like architecture, engineering, computing and telecommunications services.

li1The agreement facilitates easier movement for skilled workers, including Contractual Service Suppliers, Business Visitors, Investors, Intra-Corporate Transferees, family members of transferees with work authorisation, and Independent Professionals such as yoga instructors, musicians and chefs.

Whether people like it or not our economy is dependent on immigrant workers. In fact since Brexit there’s been a shortage of workers in many sectors. Meanwhile unemployment has remain at a good level meaning there aren’t many Brits being forced out of the job market

It’s alright though! GDP will go up by 0.1 percent and the economy will grow by 2040. Totally worth it.

A lot of the people coming into the uk don’t have jobs though. They are often coming as dependants/ family members.

A huge number are coming to work in low paid jobs, such as Deliveroo drivers. Is that really what we need?

We have lots of talented workers in the tech sector- this deal completely undercuts anyone working in that field or trying to get into it. Yes we need immigration, but this deal doesn’t benefit our workforce.
