Now I don't condone doping in any way, but i wonder how much faster, higher, stronger athletes could be if banned steroids were allowed. Ben Johnson ran 9.79 in the 100m final at the 88 Olympics and no 'natural' athlete ran faster until 1999. Would athletes like Usain Bolt get anywhere near 9.00 seconds for the 100m, or would someone be able to run a 3 minute mile?

I always thought they should have a 'drugs olympics' where basically the best scientists compete to see who can make the best athletes - like the team tables in F1.

I think a lot of the science behind illegal steroids is vested in masking the chemical. If it were concentrated on the overall effect i think we could get some mega-olympians.
