The match day buzz never leaves.

Apart from Kippax Street itself, the only routes from the ground to Claremont Road, is either via Maine Road or Yew Tree Road. And you’re talking probably 50 yards at most.

You must be going back a very, very long time, or getting a bit mixed up here I think.
I am mixed up, pal. As for going back probably last time I went in. Definitely remember it stood there on a corner and the Wilsons sigh over the door. Only a small pub.

Are you sure it’s not the Lord Lyon
Sounds like the lord Lyon on a corner , just short of the Sherwood across the road but a tad further up the rd....
Actually I've no idea if either of those boozers are still open.
Last time I went round that area was for a drink in the Albert, day after We won the league under Mancini.i was determined to celebrate back at 'Maine Rd'
Happy Days.

All closed. All long gone.

No better buzz than watching City but for me the real buzz was on the Kippax. It will never ever be beaten.Felt like one massive family.
The Kippax was unbelievable.
I used to look around In amazement.
The buzz walking through the tunnel

If my first game was now as a 6 year old.
I'd not have wanted to go again.
In comparison it's boring as fuck

Nothing. Absolutely nothing beats going to the match.
I much prefer going to the game than watching on TV but every ongoing season the match day buzz lessons because of several reasons.

Tickets have become too expensive. Restricted parking within a 20 minute walk. I'm not paying 10 to £15 to park. Trams are infrequent and packed solid when they do turn up. Too few pubs around the stadium. Bridge Inn on Clayton Lane shut down 2 seasons back, I used to park on there, I can't now. Victoria on Croft Street closed down about 18 months ago. Those two pubs I'd meet mates in and have a chat and I miss going in them. I also hate the contrived 'matchday experience' that City ram down our throats by cheesy presenters on the PA.

I'm hoping the new fanzone will help salvage a bit of pre match enjoyment when it opens but it will probably be rip off prices like it is in the stadium. £5.60 ft or a pint of Japanese gnat piss. No thank you.

100% agree. We found our “place” with Monroes in town. Then, Covid and it changed to some gay cocktail bar. Chacun a son goût and all that but it wasn’t for me and my lad.
We know booze in Fallowfield before the game and after and we’re on minibus with great lads / lasses for every game. Love it.
