The Maths Thread

I'd have assumed 365 to 1 in a normal calendar year. But I believe it's higher than that for various reasons such as people may over celebrate with beer/drugs and die from that directly or indirectly in an accident, fight, etc.
you didn't read the question properly.

Plus the availability of resources online these days (khanacademy.org being one, brilliant.org is another) means you have no risk of being labelled thick/geek in front of your mates for asking questions.
unless you don't read the question properly, you thick geek :)

What are the chances of a geek being thick?
'Clever people' often don't see the wood for the trees. Ultra-clever people struggle when it comes to social skills and 'common' sense. Generally, they do not have very good filters between their massive brains and their mouths.

I work with a load of clever people, and we've currently been working away. The clever folk have a minibus as a hire vehicle, and on the 4 hour drive to site they were debating what classification the vehicle was for speed limits on dual carriage ways (M1/M2/N1).

They apparently spent hours trawling though the vehicle manual, and searching online for axle weights, and checking the hire paperwork to see if they could find the answer. Eventually, they gave up and decided to air on the side of caution and drive at 60mph on the average speed limit dual carriageway.

I got a lift back with them earlier, and when I questioned them driving at 60 on the dual carriage way they explained their quandary... and it took me all of 30 seconds to check the DVLA website and get the answer. Needless to we did 70 the rest of the way back.
