This is neither a pro or anti Hughes thread before anyone starts with that crap. Normally when one of the bigger teams in the premiership is having a bad run the media (whether it be the papers or SKY) are all usually trying their hardest to get the manager sacked reporting every bit of crap they can find that paints a bad picture of the situation.

In our case this doesn't seem to be, the stories (which have already been mentioned in here) mainly seem to be in support of Hughes and that it's the players that need to sort it out. Even watching Sky Sports news yesterday they were hanging round outside the ground asking people what they thought of the situation and everyone they "picked" seemed to be in support of Hughes.

So, I suppose my question is why are the media being nicer to us than they would to anyone else?

They want us to fail miserably & they know the best chance of that is with MH in charge ;-)

Someone at the club is leaking news of the dressing room splits but this could be seen as either pro-hughes or anti-hughes information.

Defeat in the next two games and the pressure on him will be intense. It is just building at the moment.

Was thinking the same.
They may have realised that they have been harping on about young British managers for a couple of seasons and how they deserve a chance, only to be instumental in the departure of a couple in Keane and Ince.
Even Adams at Portsmouth, who have been poor since Redknapp left, seems to be avoiding negative press.

There is no collective "we" when it comes to "The Media", contrary to popular opinion.

Journalists don't get together and say "Right, who shall we persecute?"

Dead right but Adams at Pompey is not really a good press target. Old Arse man, after all. Hughes. old (and current?) Red wouldn't be the target. It would be our fans, particularly those who end up fighting on the terraces, the Arab money, the story of the game being hijacked, and MCFC as a club attempting to upset the established order. All good solid targets for crap journos high on speculation.
