The MEN Pink

Shaun Goater was "ringed" in the Alty Guardian, think it was £5 iirc.
This forum, once again, reveals the obsession some have for City, encyclopaedic knowlege of all things about not just players, or individual matches, but characters around the club, in the media, in the crowd. The
fanzine thread was an eye-opener for me, like this one, and no it's not just wallowing in the past, they are genuinely interesting and informative, grea stuff

I remember some bloke outside maine road shouting "Half time scores, racing results" as we came out,
Getting back to the car parked just past the YMCA next to the park railings, hoping the car still had its windows & radio, tuning into sports report to hear how other teams had got on, thinking Stuart Hall was a bit odd as he rambled on about the city game, getting back to my nans in Broadoak Road hoping she had done chips for tea,
Before I turn into Ron Manager (isnt it mmmmmm) I will just say Happy Days.

Broadoak Road in Wythenshawe?

I know technology has moved on making The Pink redundant but I miss having a good read Saturday evening and into Sunday checking all the local non league stuff and forthcoming fixtures and of course Pink Postbag. Here Ted Knott (Droylsden) Les Holt (Prestwich) The Pink Thinker, Sale, Mick the red fireman (Middleton) John Donahue (Bredbury) Mike Brennan, Beswick and occasionally myself would battle it out for the tenner letter or the 2 fiver letters.

Waiting patiently outside the newsagents from 6pm for 10 to 20 mins until the van speeded into sight, drop off a batch and speed off to the next shop.

Great memories of a more innocent time when the world seemed so much better even if we were mainly shit. Getting home from Maine Road then standing outside Flanagan's newsagent in Benchill Wythenshawe, the same crowd each week all shuffling about until we all sparked into life at the roar of that pink van and the thud as the bundle hit the pavement. Happy days.

Remember the crowds milling around that mobile printing van parked near Stan Gibson's house after the games. Even though there was precious few final scores in it! And, of course, waiting at your local newsagents for the more up to date edition around 6.This is a joy the Internet generation will never experience.
I remember the fecking ink was still wet at the shop on my estate every one had paid the shopkeeper for the pink before that big yellow Sherpa got on our street ,driver lobbed a bale of them out of the van chickened up in twine it was like a feeding time at the zoo ,gone in 60 seconds haha

You should friend Ted on facebook..... 0-0 at half time he is calling for Pep to be sacked!
I've had a few pints with Ted several years ago when Thai Franky was boss. I found him a lot more pleasant in person than reading his dreadful postings each week in the Pink and MEN letter page. I accused him of being a WUM and he laughed. Nice fella in the real world.
