Have a read of this post.....some really interesting points from someone who seems to know what they’re taking about when it comes to player contractual disputes:

Sounds like the Webster ruling and invoking article 17 is our best bet! It has been used successfully in the past and it applies to Messi in this instance as he was over 28 when he signed his contract, and he has served over 3 years of said contract.

In essence, this means he is entitled to walk away and sign for free for another club under this ruling. The only ramification is that compensation may be due to Barça in future. However, the value of any compensation due would be much lower than the £100 million city are prepared to pay.

Nugent was the one Pearce fucked up not Macken. He managed that by himself

Nugnet was the 1 England cap but had done well under pearce for the u21s and certainly not ruined by Pearce, but neither was MAcken he was well on his way out when Pearce came in and always injured. It would be like saying Pearce ruined Weaver.

An image of Messi sat at a piano... Messi stands up and pushes the piano away and it falls off the stage and smashes... explodes etc... and Messi in full City kit says... “I’ve come to Manchester to play football”....
That would proper boil some piss and innovative & new, we've done Welcome to Manchester already.

That’s an excellent article - thanks for posting. It does start to look like Messi is being well advised and is following well crafted legal advise and Barca are thrashing around - acting from a position of anger and frustration. After all who in their right mind would want Tebas in their corner ?
