watching the Barca game, Messi not doing anything really he looks like a completely different player to when he was playing for Argentina. Looks like a player thats only their due to his contract. hes playing some passes etc but looks to be not enjoying football looks fed up
He's checked out of Barcelona, it's been obvious all season. He still has his bits of magic for them, but he's gone. They know it & he knows it. Just a matter of them biting the bullet and letting him go which is the least they can do for all he gave them

Messi is not running anymore. Piss poor running stats, like 5-6km per game. If he comes and he has this running stat in PL, that means players around him will need to do 200% of their current workrate. And that includes KDB, Bernardo, Rodri, Kun etc.

Looks like if we get him we get him when he is about to retire. Have a feeling he will be more beneficial to us commercially/raising City in media and around the world than how much he will help us on the pitch.
He should be still better at 35 than Mahrez for sure, so that is some improvement right there, but still think the commercial benefit is going to be the more important he will bring to the table. With a view probably to make him sell the CFG project worldwide...

Marketing and branding aside, is this version of Messi what the team needs right now? Slotting Messi into an established and well oiled side like we had a year or two back would've been a no brainer but is he motivated to come here if we're so far behind and not competing for the major honours? I just worry we won't be getting the player we think we'll be getting.

A Messi with piss poor workrate will still improve this side, just by slotting away the chances we create which he can do at walking pace.

Yes it is. The team needs a lift, Messi would be a massive one for the entire squad and club as a whole. Plus with him on the right wing, or central all of a sudden De Bruyne, Sterling, Bernardo, Foden etc have more space as Messi attracts defenders and opens up the field for us, unlike Mahrez etc currently. Tolmie also said this in a previous post in another thread.

Pique now looking out for the season with serous knee injury , Garcia more then ever needed

Could now spark the Messi transfer, they need money & defenders

Let's see

I worry Messi is not coming into the team he thinks we are.

We are worse than Barca, and we know how he feels about that.
