The Michael Oliver Penalty Thread

Both of Liverpool's calls were accurate and guaranteed pens. Hard for an official to miss those, even VAR would have given both.

Trent says hi for the first penalty
Trent's arm was close to his body while the other guy's arm was extended and in an abnormal position, entirely different situations. Blame the refs and rules for Trent decision, but he got the one last night spot on.

Sure about that?

He's a competition on his hands. The Alty Tit has given two today - the second of which would never be given had Raz been on the receiving end. Funny how Taylor doesn't need two seconds of reflection but is pointing to the spot before the guy's hit the grass! Same with Mason.
Oliver too for the second Littlewoods' one yesterday.

He couldn’t point to the spot fast enough.

He was given this first game for a reason and he delivered, why is anyone doubting that give his performance in our game last season, they hide in plain sight ,get used to it ,expect us to get shafted whi le the rags get a pen and we get one disallowed this week

fwiw, almost 12% fewer penalties with VAR than the previous season without.
draw your own conclusions.

Certainly TAA's arm was closer than the Leeds' player. If TAA's is claimed as a penalty, the other one has to be.

Two solid penalties yesterday, I agree with you.

Blame the refs, eh it was the same ref in both games! As the image above illustrates TAA arm was extended from his body.
Virtually same situation, same ref, different outcome! Think we know why.
