the myth of celtic and their incredible support?

Not really Harold, fans see a lot of empty seats on Sky Sports with their own eyes, I seen quite a few thousand with my own eyes on Tuesday too and that didn't include the 2-3k Celtic fans scattered in the home stands.

Okay not representative due to it being a nothing game i suppose but for us it was a Battle of Britain fixture.

Jimharri, i don't really have an English favourite personally. Don't like the London clubs, don't like the Midlands clubs, don't like Liverpool. Both Manchester clubs, Everton and Newcastle I would say but really no preference. Would love to see Leeds make it back to the big time but unlikely.

I'll leave you in peace now. (I promise) Celtic is old news now.

Good luck against the English champions at the weekend ;)
I think this thread is focusing on the wrong angle. Undoubtedly Celtic can create an incredible atmosphere (witnessed by most of us when we met in September). What a few posters on here are saying is that it's inconsistent. Perhaps, un-loyal. I think if you're comparing noise - you piss all over us. If you want to talk about attendances, consistently being high through thin and thinner we piss all over you.

They are two different aspects of being good supporters.

Celtic also hold both League and European attendance records.

146k vs Aberdeen.
136k vs Leeds United.

Celtic were the first British team to win the European cup. Manchester City have never won it.

Celtic have a total of 334 European games. (186 in the Champions League/ European Cup)
Manchester City have a total of 115 European games (45 in the Champions League / European Cup)

Celtic are a bigger club than Manchester City, only Manchester United and Liverpool are bigger clubs in the UK. You're delusional if you base how big a club is on its current financial affairs, Stoke and Burnley would be bigger than Ajax, PSV and Dortmund if that were case.

Man City are a franchise, injected with cash by billionaires and television money, that's what us Scots hate about the English, arrogance. Infact, that's what the world hates about the English.

Some English fans tell us that we are Championship at best, Celtic should have won both games against, ahead 4 times, pegged back 4 times. Full strength and against the team you fielded last night. (Celtic were without 3 of their top 11 too, Sinclair, Tierney and Toure) When I look at the Premiership, there are at least 10 out of the 20 teams that are bang average small clubs.

West Brom
Stoke
Bournemouth
Watford
Crystal Palace
Burnley
Leicester
Hull
Swansea
Middlesbrough.

You can add to that, Sunderland/Southampton and West Ham too. But yet Celtic are supposedly behind all this lot and Championship level?

There are 7 good teams in the 20 and Man City and Chelsea were bought. The genuine 5 are Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton.

If Celtic ever come to the Premiership and were injected with the associated revenues, they would have to build a new stadium to 80k+ to accommodate their fans.

you are seriously deluded mate, you must be a part time follower of the scum too

There's not really anything else to do in Scotland apart from follow the football right? That's why they're good at it.

Jimharri, i don't really have an English favourite personally.
Eh? I never asked you if you had a favourite English team.
Would love to see Leeds make it back to the big time but unlikely.
Okay, I think this thread has gone far enough now. Is there a mod in the house?
I'll leave you in peace now. (I promise)
How many times have you promised that now?

And still waiting, by the way.

Nothing is wrong with English football? What happened with Iceland then?
For the 'best league' in the world, surely the national side should be the best in the world too? If not why not?

A central tenant to any Celtic fan banging on about how massive they are is, of course, Lisbon. Rightly so, but a reminder is due to you that when the Lions of Lisbon were doing their stuff, England were the reigning Champions of the World.

So now can you see how relevance changes over time?

I wonder how many times City would have qualified for Europe if we were in a league with United, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Grimsby, Bury, Oldham, Altrincham, Northampton Town, etc? Where very few teams had home attendances in five figures?

Big club. Small club. Who really cares?

It's my club and if people think we're a small club tough shit.

Would have to be the most meaningless insult ever.

Celtic may have been a bigger club than City ten years ago , they are not now . We have money because we earn uhndreds of millions a year from Champs League and Premiership , and that before considering gate receipts , the premier league is more attractive and we attract far more sponsorship money than Celtic our current incomes are nothing to do with "sugar daddy" money , we generate our own income and are self sufficient because we adhere to the FFP rules
If Lionel Messi came available on the market would he sign for City or Celtic ? he would sign for the team who could keep his high profile and the possibility of winning the champs league and a domestic competition that has global audience . City are the bigger club
Celtic cannot even afford to keep their stand-out player a 19 year old City prospect who currently wouldnt make our match day squad . City are the bigger club
When i go abroad and look which football shirts are available to buy there are always City shirts ready to purchase , there are no Celtic shirts . City are the bigger club Having always admired celtic as a football club (and i remember when they had genuine world class players like Gemmill , Johnstone,Dalglish etc.,) if Cbhoy is an example of their current support then they have become a very bitter club who jealousy and envy of anything to do with the Premier league and they are hurting , they have become yet another football club who revel in past glories because they now realise their future in european football is bleak . Celtic a great history ,but now just a big fish in a very small pond.
Cbhoy can live in the past , football is all about money and nothing else , if anybody thinks different they are simply deluded
