The third word in the title should be pluralised. They're all nasty! Just that some are nastier than others.

Only one has a current leader who has previously proclaimed that was the monicker given to her own party - the same party that is ignoring a court order to pay compensation to kids we "extradited" to abusers in Australia and didn't even bother to see what the result of our actions was.

Started in 1945 under a Labour government and finally apologised for in 2010 by Gordon Brown, during those years a labour government was in power for thirty of them, yet another case of the taxpayers having to stump up for a historical labour party policy.

except we are not doing so - thanks to the nasty party - never mind the survivors will be dead soon...............I am sure thats the unwritten policy

I'm not sure saying "we heavily contributed to this fuck up but we DEMAND that you change your budgets to pay for it" is really a feasible political approach.

It's also not exactly an open and shut case about whether the Government is liable here.

Government - of both parties - allowed it to happen - Government has recognised it fucked up - Government has apologised - Government has held an enquiry and Government has been told to pay up - how are they not liable?

Sometimes things happen - hence departments have contingencies within budgets to cover it

While its true that both parties "Allowed it to happen" only one of them instigated it, the apology came from Brown after thirteen years of a labour government in power, and they chose to do nothing but leave another labour mess to fester into the future for a tory government to clean up.
Perhaps if the last labour government had not spent all the money and hocked the country up to its neck with debt, then money might more easily be found to deal with this matter swiftly. Its not "How are they not liable" but How are we not liable, "They" dont have any money, they have to get it off us one way or another, Are they supposed to announce to the country that they will "Just take £20 out of every ones wages and benefits this week to get the ball rolling faster, oh, the NHS could do with a few bob as well so call it £25".
Maybe do a labour and pile it on the credit card even though the minimum payments every month are getting silly to the point your skint all the time.

The court has rightly said that wrongs have been done, but anyone who has known of a liability case will tell you they drag on for years and thats without the international complication, thats not the government being c*nts, thats the legal profession working for us to keep our tax bill down literally, I would hope the governments position was a fair offer as soon as possible, but whats a fair offer under those circumstances, somebody has to put a number on it and it will never be enough.

So if there is any party that is "Nasty" its the bunch who thought this up in the first place, not the only children to suffer as a result of labour policy unfortunately, Rotherham alone has 1500 victims that are a stone cold case for compensation, they certainly deserve it after being failed so badly, in that case it will be the council and insurance companies, the police and social services, and no doubt the government, but we pay the bill one way or another, tax up or service down is the real world result, as is a large number of children scared for life.
