This one has been dominated by Chelsea re-building and Utd playing catch-up.

Every big-name player has seen a 3 way fight

January may not be a good time to buy, but who will be our rivals now, in January and in the Summer? S

I wouldn't rule out Utd buying a left-back but the Glazer's well is running dry.

I think we should forget January. We don't seem to favour buying then - unless of course issues arise between now and then (heaven forbid - Carlos swaps footsie for golf again). I think next Summer will be when we strengthen again when the high earning peripheral players - largely signed by Hughes start to free up space on the payroll. Ade will no doubt be sat on his arse still taking his pay cheque.

Last day of this transfer window will be interesting too

You are right about January, but everyone's budgets are limited, and Utd and Chelsea's overspends will make it a lot easier for City from now on.

I don't think many people will focus on this now, but all the same I think it's significant. We need to remain at the top to capitalise otherwise Utd's gamble will pay off and they will remain in play
