2-0, this NextGen is just becoming a huge embarrassment to the club, especially considering it gets press coverage.

think you may need to take a breather mate, not even the players themselves would call this an embarrassment, they're 16 and 17 year old kids. Basically children. Relax.

Before it went off i was impressed with how they got it down and played, sometimes into trouble but they were always looking to pass it quickly.

All about learning, nothing to do with results. Rather produce a top player than a top team.

Rusnak with a screamer, 2-1. He is one lad who is coming along well lately, we're spoilt for choice as far as creative midfielders go, defence seems to be the main problem. Where is Rekik today?

international duty, along with a few others.

couple that we've used a mix and match of our youth players thus far in the tournament, and that our more promising young talent are currently playing in Portsmouth, Norway, Rochdale, and wherever else, this is hardly a cause for concern.

FT: 1-2

Here's the table - it's a shame they don't pair up the non-qualifiers of each group to have a sort of Europa League, that could be an idea for next year to give the losing teams more unique matches.

1. Barcelona: 12pts (played 5)
2. Marseille: 9pts (played 4)
3. Celtic: 6pts (played 4)
4. City: 0pts (played 5)

lose 2-1, from what I saw Suarez was the standout, Roman & Rusnak looked pretty good and Drury put a shift in, Hiwula didn't cut it and the defending was woeful.

honest opinion of the few games I've seen this season? apart from a couple of individuals, we're worse than last season(for some obvious and some not so obvious reasons).

Suarez looks good on the ball without actually doing anything, got a lot to learn as have all the young guys.

i agree but i do get people who say he'd do a lot more with better players around him, it felt that way watching tonight, lot to learn indeed but he needs to be playing with better players.

As I understand it this is an under 19's competition and the 3 other teams in our group actually have a regular under 19's team whereas we don't.We have an under 18's team and lower ages.

This means that our under 19's team is a bit of a mix of the academy side and the EDS side. They don't play together as regularly as the other teams and that is bound to make a bit of a difference.I don't know what tonights team was but I would expect our team probably included 9 under 18's and at these age groups that extra year (or more) does make a difference.

I would love to know the managers opinion of how we fared in this competiton.Ok we lost have lost all the games so far but I would hope he has seen development and will be looking positively at next years competition as almost the whole team willl still be eligible.

Ruznak is definitely one who is stepping his game up this season. Scoring good goals and starting to look like a really good goalscoring midfield player.

I currently coach Rugby to an under 10's team.

We got beat 4 trys to 1 on sunday by Chester, however I told the team they shouldn't be downhearted because of the scoreline we played the better Rugby, passing it out to the wings, making spaces by not getting sucked into where the ball was.

However the reason Chester beat us was because they had one big lad who they kept giving it to, and although the team put up a valiant effort to stop him they couldnt do it every time, which was evident with the fact he scored all 4 trys.

So what I am trying to say is you need to look at the performance rather that the results with these age group games, at the end of the day the club arent trying to produce squads for the future they're trying to produce individuals;

Mancini style 4-2-3-1;

_____________________Johansen________________________

_Coulson________Kennedy______Rekik_______Meppen-Walter_

_______________Razak________Clowes___________________

_Henshall______________Suarez___________________Roman_

Quite right. Not sure about Razak being still eligible but if he is that's about the right team. One change I would definitely make is Drury or Ruznak for Henshall. Partly because either is more consistent than Henshall but also they give you a little bit of defensive cover as well.I think Henshall is more like Petrov but doesnt do as much going either way!

The problem with that front 4 is none of them doing any working back at all. And before I hear the shouts of anguish about attacking players tracking back I think it's essential they do at least get back into shape to offer some cover even if they are not expected to be chasing and tackling anything.

Perspective, mate.Perspective.

I follow our club's youth system pretty closely so have a sense of perspective and there is no learning experience to be had from chasing the ball around for 80% of the game as Celtic pass us off the park. Bit of a reality check really, our U18 team seems better than this hybrid team coached by a different person to the U18 side.

Meanwhile the stream has died it looks like.

Just curious, but how the hell does an SPL youth outfit pass us off the park? You would think even mid table English clubs would have youth setups that can rival anything in the SPL.

I'll admit to being ignorant of the SPL youth league... I'm just judging by the SPL's poor quality at the senior level.

we were pretty good on the ball when we used it, but it started to go wonky when it went away from Rusnak, Denis or Roman, Celtic pressed much more eagerly and forced more errors, especially in the first half and we didn't do anything like that, our defence was appalling and they waltzed through us and were really good on the ball, they have some good prospects but they defended a lot better as a team, we were, especially in the first half Suarez, Roman and Rusnak going forward with occassional surges from somebody else, and Hiwula fucking up anything we did get up there, and our defence, well might as well have picked 4 blokes out of 109 for most of it, apart from the odd good tackle it was utter rubbish, I don't see why we'd keep any of those guys beyond the end of this season(may CMW gets a stay because he has shown some promise), if we can get rid of guys like James Poole who I really liked then the guys at the back tonight are just nowhere near, nowhere near.

I'd be very interested to see the average ages of each team in our league. I'm guessing ours would be one of the youngest.

Aren't we playing a 15 year old keeper, in an under 19's tounament? (maybe it was due to injuries, but i swear we had a kid in net in the earlier games)

I think Johansen has played in the games and he is a genuine under 19 (big lad too). The under 18's academy side on Saturday had a yound trialist on net.
