For most of the Irish teams now this is a huge lifeline to them. In the boom years all the clubs down South were professional and players were earning between €700 up to give or take €3000 a week. 1 club sacked a player because he wasnt fit and he was earning up to €2000 a week.

Since the recession all the clubs have hit the shit big time with them all reverting back to part time football. Summer football helps being fully fit means there is more chances of getting the upset win. As for Rovers if it wasnt for there fans they would of been gone. They set up a Barca type and between the fans took over the club and saved it from going bust. So for all those Rovers fans and backers this is great they are garanteed another 4 games in European competitions no matter if they win or lose the next rounds.
