fuck pearce an ball bringback frank clark or ron saunders
Would that be the same Ron Saunders who won the First Division title and the European Cup and a couple of League Cups AFTER he left City for Aston Villa. Not quite in the same league as Clark,Ball and Pearce. Another manager who wasn't given enough time to build a team.
He would know just how Pellegrini feels after watching City stars underperforming against inferior opposition as he was in charge when we screwed up in the League Cup final against Wolves.
We are going to beat Barcelona, will go through to the next round and no-one will begrudge Pellegrini his hotel bar bill.

Ron Saunders didn't win the European cup. He'd left by then. Tony Barton had taken over by then and he won it.

I know this is hypothetical, but it doesn't require us to change any results, or play any differently. If that had happened (and assuming we'd have beaten Villa at home, which in light of the Wigan result seems less of a given, but still...) the top of the Prem would look like this;
1. City played 27, points 63
2. Chelsea played 28, points 60
3. Liverpool played 28, points 59
4. Arsenal played 28, points 59
You're changing results in the two most important games of the season, wiping away Joe Hart/Nastasic's fuck up, assuming we had somehow got a second at Stamford Bridge when we never came close, and somehow got 2 goals at home to Chelsea when they looked much more likely having hit the woodwork 3 times.
Apart from that, you may have a point.
I'm not changing the two league results, I'm switching the home league result for the home FA Cup result - sorry that wasn't clear.
If we would have beat them in the league instead of the cup we'd have 3 more points (plus he assumed we would beat Villa instead of playing the cup game against Wigan so that's 3 more) so that makes 63lasereyes said:But you are also changing the result of our game at Stamford Bridge also, or else City would have 60pts and Chelsea 63pts.

Chelsea would lose 6 points from beating us in the league and they wouldn't have beat Spurs in the league as they would have had an FA cup quarter final instead.
I think that's where he got the points totals from.
I know mate, I agree with you! I was just explaining where he got the points totals from.lasereyes said:Quagmire blue said:If we would have beat them in the league instead of the cup we'd have 3 more points (plus he assumed we would beat Villa instead of playing the cup game against Wigan so that's 3 more) so that makes 63lasereyes said:But you are also changing the result of our game at Stamford Bridge also, or else City would have 60pts and Chelsea 63pts.

OK, but that's really silly. Firstly, the difference between the league and the Cup result against Chelsea was not pure chance - we had 3 critical players back. But more to the point, once you get into revising history, then anything's possible. If it had snowed heaps at Stamford Bridge for their last 3 home games, then they would be tied on points with us. If Dzeko suddenly had a Clarke Kent-like transformation, we would have beaten Chelsea 10-1 in the league fixture. If my aunt had a Y instead of second X chromosome, she'd be my uncle.

That's not reasonable because we didn't have the same side available for the league game (Fernandinho, Garcia and Nasri all injured). So you would have to switch the fixture list also. But you are also changing the result of our game at Stamford Bridge also, or else City would have 60pts and Chelsea 63pts.
