The Post Transfer Deadline Day (positive) Thread

  1. Bravo - Ederson: Upgrade (surely!!)
  2. Kolarov - Mangala: Epic Downgrade
  3. Sagna - Danilo: Big Upgrade
  4. Zaba - Walker: Epic Upgrade
  5. Clichy - Mendy: Epic Upgrade
  6. Navas - Bernardo: Epic Upgrade
  7. Iheanacho - No-one: Big Downgrade

6/10 window, Bernardo was a good signing, fullbacks were a problem of our own doing by not strengthening for 6 years so can't really give too much credit, goalkeeper another problem of our making but I think ederson was a good buy, only real disappointment was not getting a CB, when Vinny goes down or needs rest Otters and stones leaves a lot to be desired

I'm positive but we are a bit light in certain area's, wouldn't surprise me if there's some activity in January, but that's a difficult window to do business in.

I think we made some fantastic signings this summer the only concern is I think we are still a soft touch in the centre both midfield and defence.

If Kompany has a repeat of his injury which lets be honest is highly likely we will struggle.

I don't think we have what it takes to compete for the PL or CL so I think it will be a top 4 place.

In terms of overall squad balance I actually think the rags and Liverpool have now caught us up again which is a shame.

Football wise I'm sure it will still be brilliant to watch and very exciting.

Bernardo and Ederson absolutely look the business to me. Very impressed with Mendy in one match, obvs. Walker a big add. I probably rate Nacho less than others here and to me I couldn't see us using him in a front 3 ever. And as a lone striker? Rather play a 3 with whomever is available from the AMs. And as to JFE? Rather have Mangala - far worse footballer but at least his pace might save us during the 1-2 times per match when the opposition gets a fast counter behind our high line.
Could care less if JFE plied his trade at the Theatre of Nonsense - just not that good of a player and surely not 30 mil new spend better than our Mangala sunk cost from 3 years ago.

Good post. Liverpool squad doesn't have the depth but they have a manager who the players will run through brick walls for. That goes a long way.

Our squad does look pretty small with many departures, I'm hoping Foden, Brahim and Zinchenko can get minutes because of this. Our squad doesn't have alot of defenders or forwards but we have a ridiculous amount of midfielders, I think Pep should consider the 4-2-2-2 that Monaco have been so successful with, and City have had success with this formation in both seasons we won the premier league. Wouldn't mind seeing Kevin as an attacking midfielder again playing more forward, I personally think he is being sacrificed for our other forwards, he can get alot of goals if get him GOOD chances.

We can play 4 midfielders, and Toure can drop as the pivot defensive midfielder and the formation becomes the 3-5-2 he already likes. Only reason I wouldn't persist with 3-5-2 (seems he' just wants the team to be flexible) is because we don't have the back-up CBs to persist with it.
