The Prime Ministers Speech today

Re: The Prime Ministers Speach today

Foot was a scruff. He lost the 83 election for his stupid socialist views. Britain would have fallen on it's arse if he'd won that election because socialism doesn't work.

Firstly, he was on course to win the next election but the Falklands issue gave Thatcher new appeal that kept her in power for way too long.

Secondly, there is no definitive definition of 'socialism' so you need to be clearer on that point, however according to Wikipedia ...

"The United Nations World Happiness Report 2013 shows that the happiest nations are concentrated in Northern Europe where the Nordic model of social democracy persists, with Denmark topping the list. The Nordics ranked highest on the metrics of real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, having someone to count on, perceived freedom to make life choices, generosity and freedom from corruption."

To be fair it did have Wimpey on the back.

He said William Hague is the greatest living Yorkshiremen. It's really hard to believe anything someone says in a speech when they've said that. Great way to make sure you don't get many votes in Yorkshire though.
As we Lancastrians know, there is no such thing as a great living Yorkshireman.

Very surprised this has not been mentioned today, I guess certain people are lets say keeping their head down so to speak ?? anyway please don't bully me as I make my statement. I believe his speech was for the working person and can only enhance the need to work !!! If you earn above £10000 and below £13000 its brilliant as you will not pay tax..If you earn above £41000 you will not pay 40% tax until £50000, what is there not to like as a hard earning upstanding working person ???? Better life for the people who work.... simple economics.

Also said non of this will kick into the end of 2020!!!!

In a speech which ended his party's conference, the PM said he would raise the tax-free allowance from £10,500 to £12,500 by 2020.

He also said the threshold for the 40p income tax rate would be raised from £41,900 to £50,000 by the end of a five-year Conservative government.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29433919

It was pointed out on News at 10 last night that the £50k is a gimmick because by 2020 the 40% band would have risen anyway due to various inflaters. Not for the first time a political party is gambling on the economy being strong to give some tax deductions.

More PR Bullshit from the Spin Doctor.

When they sadly get reelected these promises will mysteriously disappear into more cuts to the poor and tax breaks for his posh pals. The EU referendum will also be forgotten about along with the promises to the Scots.

His Hypocrisy knows know bounds comparing leaving his kid in the pub to a speech gaff by an opposition leader and don't get me started on him wheeling out his disabled son every conference in front of the cameras when millions of others are being slowly euthanised by his parties policies.

Totally agree. Despicable use of his deceased son for political advantage whilst overseeing the dismantling of the NHS should tell you all you need to know about the morals of this man.
