The Proper Treble Is Safe (And The Possible Liverpool Quadruple Is Over) - The Centurions Is Also Now Officially Safe

Don't buy into the giddymen Scouse hype. It's the same crap every year, and it's past it's sell by date.

The treble has only been done twice in England - both teams from the Greater Manchester area. In Spain it's been done twice, in Germany twice, in Italy once. There are reasons why. You need an exceptional team, and large pinch of luck, with injuries, with opponents, with the timing of big fixtures and congestion etc, etc, etc.

This Liverpool side is not exceptional, although it has a couple of exceptional players. There are a few make-weight too. This is not a side that are consistently winning trophys every season. They have won 5 of their last 11 games. They are on target for 90ish points and are known bottlers when the pressure is on at the business end of the season.

Rest easy Blues

100%. I think the dislike of Arsenal is down to recency bias plus the fact that their underachieving players are very gobby and annoying.

The dippers players may man for man be less annoying although Salah and VVD and Robertson would be near the top of any list of annoying players but as a club as a whole the dippers are just way more despicable

I’m cheering on Arsenal in every league game left.
I find Nunez, Elliott and Jota a lot more irritating than the ones you do.

We’ve won 4 doubles:
1969-70 - European Cup Winners’ Cup + Football League Cup
2013-14 - Premier League + EFL Cup
2017-18 - Premier League + EFL Cup
2020-21 - Premier League + EFL Cup

None of those aren’t doubles just because they’re not the CL+PL.

And 3 trebles:
2018-19 - Premier League, FA Cup + EFL Cup
2022-23 - Champions League, Premier League + FA Cup
2023-24 - Premier League, UEFA Super Cup + FIFA Club World Cup

We also very nearly won the CL, PL + EFL treble in 2020-21.

But the big one is the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup Quadruple. I think we’ve had our chances with the Quad in 2018-19 and 2022-23, and unfortunately I can’t see us being that good ever again. We were good enough in both of those seasons to do it though.

I’m torn.

Both sets of fans and the clubs are insufferable.

Arsenal and their fans have taken over Liverpool and their fans this season.

Arteta is a twat. I don’t mind Slot. He had a cult wobble a few weeks back, but he’s OK again.

Now Liverpool can’t do the quadruple, the treble or the English double, I’m not bothered if they win their 2nd only PL title in 32 years.

Obviously I don’t want either team to win the CL, which they both have a good chance of doing with fully fit first teams.
I feel precisely the same, to the letter in fact.

The rags fans need to get their act together quickly.
falling behind these 2 gobs in the obnoxious stakes.

A treble(/quadruple) is still on for us this season. We’ve already won the Community Shield and the Chanpions League, FA Cup and Club World Cup are still up for grabs.

That would be a third treble in a row, a treble treble.

How many clubs have won a treble treble in football, I wonder?
Unfortunately, that record, if achieved, will not be applauded and acknowledged.
You must win the Premier League to be considered a top team.
Then win it again.
Then win it again.
Then win it again.
Then come up with yet another hurdle to overcome...

I honestly think if Rodri wasn't injured and Pep had bought players in the Summer, we'd have done 5 PL titles in a row.

Only the Scousers will have stopped City doing 7 PL titles in a row if they win the PL title this season.

Interesting thread this and prompted me to look at the Dippers remaining fixtures.

If like me you, you think the Dippers seem to have a winnable game every week then you are correct. They have a lot of tough games coming up.

They have a couple of tough runs and have 2 Derbies to play, Us away, Chelsea away, Brighton away, Arse, Newcastle, Spuds at home.

I reckon they won't get 90 points let alone a ton!

As soon as they draw/ lose a match and know they can't beat our centurion total they'll slow down and try to coast home.
They have too many fish to fry at the moment.
It could be their downfall.

Arsenal are already being twatty, fans and players alike and that's without actually winning anything. Just imagine what they are going to be like if they won the league. I'm actually leaning more towards the scousers if we don't do it and I never thought I'd hear myself saying that. That's how bad they are tbh.
I think that’s the difference.

There’s a sort of weary acknowledgment amongst blues when it comes to the dippers based on the fact that they are, on the whole, a bunch of insufferable cunts. (Eg Jamie Carragher.) We know if they win the league they will be insufferable cunts.

But they could be in the northern counties league and they’d still be insufferable cunts.

With the arse, they only crawled out from under their rocks two seasons ago.

They’re still basically figures of fun.

ATV has given us the ubiquitous Fat Robby who seems to be forever talking about City whilst simultaneously reinforcing the notion that anyone over 40 shouldn't be appearing on TV debates whilst dressed in a football shirt that is patently two sizes too small.
However, even Fat Robby isn't as obnoxious as the Jaap Stam Lovechild (Lee .....?) who for some godforsaken reason has his own slot on Talksport and is a genuine contender to remove Goldbridge from the dubious crown of being the pricks prick.

Strangely the media bollocks surrounding Liverpool is usually confined to their ex players and unless you've had the recent misfortune of travelling to Anfield then I can completely understand why you think their fans are relatively okay.

The only thing we’re grabbing this season is straws mate.
