I heard relegation taunts ect tossed about the office by rags and so forth, but also some people on here keep saying we need battler's like Bellamy and Parker to keep us up ect.

My question is no one actually thinks we are in any trouble of going down do they?

I for one think there is no danger of this (ok there is the worry that we have to go to the top 4 away) but i just think we're to good for the drop.

That's why I don't think we should be looking at players who are going to keep us up with their premiership experience, but players of much higher quality to compliment what we already have an actually challenge for Europe.

utter crap ... i firmly believe that we can win the uefa cup ... this relegation talk is crap, anyone thats seen us play this season can see a lot of our defeats have been due to pure bad luck, poor refereeing decisions and the fact we have players that we need to and will replace.

We're not going down in a month of sundays, practically all our home games are very winnable with maybe the exception of Villa. We'll probably struggle away but I fancy us to finish closer to 6th than last year.

You mean postion and not points though right?

I did mean positon but I don't think we'll finish all that far away from Everton in terms of points, things go our way we could push them. Depends who we get in and how quickly they settle.

We will end up with less points than last year we would need 30 from the last 17 games, when you consider 4 are away to the "big four" that leaves 13 games(including Everton away) 39 pints, meaning we would pretty much have to run the table.

we won't go down. but it's going to be some achievement to finish 6th . can't believe the recent run everton have made without having any fit natural strikers . hope liverpool beat them tonight ( will piss off baconface , and we'll only be 10 points behind them with a game in hand ) .
alot depends on how quickly the new signings settle in . i still predict a top half finish . in which position is anybody's guess ? remember , this is city we're talking about .

I know it doesnt translate as it is a different sport but a Hockey team I was on had much the same form as City has this season and we had all he big teams up in the late half of the season. We were well out of playoff contention halfway through.

But as soon as that halfway point hit we caught on fire, we had a game very similar to the one City had against Wigan except that we had massive penalty trouble throughout the game yet still came out on top 1 - 0. This inspired us and we went mad against the league we, ended up finishing fourth outa 12 and won the play offs. In a string of 13 games we won 12 and drew 1.

I dont see relegation as realistic. I think this game against Wigan could turn it around for us. We played with great character and heart. I think, that even though we wont run the table, we have a good chance of doing well. ESPECIALLY if we get a player of Kaka's standard.

Well let's hope that happens during this window or we certainly could be in trouble. We should be too good for the drop but we're far too inconsistent; magnificent one week, utter fucking wank the next. The Wigan game cheered me up considerably as it was a solid "in between" performance; we gritted our teeth and ground out a win without ever setting the world on fire. We need lots more of these "Everton-type" performances if we're going to push up the league because we can't rely on our free-flowing to destroy teams on a weekly basis due to the fact that we only turn in such performances once a month.

Hopefully this Wigan game will mark a turning point. However, any team that is only 4 points above the drop at this stage is in danger; it's deluded to think otherwise because while we have turned in some sublime performances this season, we have more often than not bordered on the ridiculous.

Two wins and we shoot up the table. Two defeats and we'll all be slitting our wrists again. It's still far too close to call.

We should avoid arrogant complacency at all costs. Look at the money spent on so-called quality players at White Hart Lane and where they are right now.

Is that just for jonno

I'm not as worried about playing the 'big four' as others.

We thrashed Arsenal. We were very unlucky not to beat Liverpool. We didn't really turn up against the rags but only narrowly lost. Only Chelsea outclassed us and they are in a bit of a mess at the moment.

I think we can pick up some points there, particularly against Arsenal who will leave themselves open at the back at times. By the time we play Liverpool they might be in 'must win' mode in order to stay in the title race. If we can frustrate them for an hour there is no reason we can't nick something.
