The riot that banned alcohol from Scottish football

With Archie Macpherson sparking debate by calling for alcohol to be reintroduced at Scottish football grounds to help boost attendances, STV has full footage of the shameful incident which led to the drink ban in 1980. What about Rangers in Manchester not that long ago? BTW, is that a relative of Susan Boyle presenting the cup?

fecking stupid idea, and shows how desperate some people are if they are considering lifting the ban just so they might get more punters through the gates, maybe if the quality of the footy was any better or if gate prices were better then more people might turn up.

I assume it got worse after that footage ended, as all I saw was a load of kids running around the pitch waving scarves. Hardly a "shameful riot".

It's ridiculous that you can watch any other sport with a beer in your hand, but not football.

There were full charges from each side if I remember rightly. You can see it starting at the end of the footage.

Went to Rangers last year and got to the ground 2 hours before kick off. Thought we'd have a pint in the ground as the pubs outside looked rough. What a mistake that was.
