Quite a few of the threads on here turn into to Pun threads, and are quite often very funny, such as the Harry the Beef one upstairs.. However there are a few issues I have with the use of the pun.

A pun must not be a sound alike in my eyes. For example someone put "Stock it now" for Stop it now in the aforemention thread. That, in my eyes, is a no no.

Also, there should be one pun per post. This is the best way to keep it funny. I dont believe a pun thread should include a mythical mini story in order to get as many in one post as possible.

Pun threads should be read entirely before offering your own pun as a repeated Pun is not on

Great little tutorial, John.

A Pun War can be hilarious but there are always a few who spoil it.

You've got two disobeying the "soundalike" rule already on here.

Remember. The pun is mightier than the sword.

Totally agree, and if people can't follow these simple rules when attempting puns they should just quip.

Masterful punning in a difficult situation.

Can I add another pun rule?

You don't need to put the relevant pun in bold letters. It ruins it, it looks contrived.

I'd also add that when a pun war is taking place a sensible posts just looks odd. Everyone scans it to look for the pun they think they've missed.

A bit like this one, really.
