BBC just noticed, not caught up with the laser attack yet. Apparently Russian warships & oil tankers use non NATO Irish waters with impunity for unloading cargo, refuelling and as a base for patrols into EU waters.

We have enough nuclear weapons to end Russia as a society, which is why they would never invade.

Let’s also address the fact our small army is incredibly modern and would repel whatever the fuck they could muster with what’s left of their 1950’s equipped army after they couldn’t even successfully invade their neighbour.

They visit UK waters about every couple of weeks by sea or air, their ships regularly sail up the English Channel, and usually have an escort from the RN, this has gone on through and since the cold war, Their warplanes regularly fly into the North Sea from the north, and the RAF monitor them out of Lossiemouth, and Conningsby, if they come to close we will our Eurofighters to escort them away.

Oh, and one of our "spy" planes has just been spying on Kaliningrad, and another is investigating something in the North Sea along with a German AF plane.

Sadly the Russians had pretty much the whole of the 2010s to what they wanted with their submarines after David Cameron scrapped the UK’s sub hunting capability and before its replacement started to appear in 2020. I suspect we have a lot of unpleasant surprises in store due to sabotage of our underwater infrastructure.

Having served alongside the 'youth of today' (well, technically, the youth of relatively recently) in an operational environment in the latter part of my military career, let me reassure you they will do just fine if called upon - as every other generation before them has done.
