Gerrard won't get sacked unless it looks like they'll go down. He's a media luvvie so Villa without his name would mean nothing. The Southampton manager should be gone by now. A lot of decent players, loads of crap results but then they beat us or similar and he survives. Phony.
Utter **** that Soton manager, playing that weak team against the scousers at the end of last season was enough for me. Hope they go down and he gets the chop.

Leicester spent more time in the top four in the last two completed seasons than any other team, and they still failed to qualify for Champions League in either.

Very poor.

It isn’t really though is it? The fact they were in the top 4 for so long was brilliant in itself and competing against the so called ‘big 6’. It’s very common for worse squads to not last the distance.

If Howe with Newcastle spent most of the season in the top 4 but finished 5th and won the FA Cup, that isn’t poor, it’s absolutely brilliant.

Was it ever actually "in their hands" though? I recall us having about three games in hand, no?

No.

We had to hope they dropped 2 points with Chelsea, Palace and Newcastle left to play. Why do you think the slip is so celebrated?

Come on man. You gotta get it right when you come on like that.

He didnt get any backing, and couldnt have had a tougher start, what did they expect, seems it was inevitable once promotion was achived. He seemed depressed with his comments after Liverpool game, so maybe did him a favour. Openely criticising the board prob didnt help.

Newly promoted club, in the first four games he wins one and has to play Liverpool and City away. Sacked in August.

Though, clearly he wanted to spend some money to compete and the club are happy to get relegated and live off the parachute payments.
