Yes, it is now. But it has also been altered to believe that having concern over ones own neighbour should not take precedent over expansion of international territory as being a negative. A little Englander cares more about their local policies, not expansionism or global policies.

Its an 'insult' by those still clinging to dreams of empire and 'Britain's place' at the top of the world. And it is not (in practice for Britain) it is specifically aimed at those who feel England and English identity should be supressed and a British Identity take precedent.

This doesn't sound coherent, particularly as many Brexiteers voted to leave the EU whilst banging on about WW2 and "we used to have an empire".

I think the mentality accurately described by little Englander and an offensive six letter word are more borne out of insecurity than anything else. It's a character flaw more than it is a political identity.

E.g.the areas with the fewest immigrants expressing the greatest anti-immigrant sentiment.

Like many things the interpretation of that phrase has evolved over the years and means a different thing to most people today than it did 100 years ago.

Yes, you are. Little Britain and Little England are not the same term in their originality.

Little Englander was originally a term meant to belittle those who denigrated the Empire and its expansionism in favour of caring for matter closer to home. It has since taken on the term to mean those who only focus on England and isolationism, but this is usually said by those who are generally anti-English in their own beliefs, which is closer to "Little Britain". The original term was meant to express dissatifaction with the Government shirking responsibility towards it's own citizens and their wellbeing and the sentiment began in Liberal Manchester and coined by Imperial Tories.

There were those who had tried to erase the identity of England entirely and replace it with "British" identity, similarly to what they tried to do in Ireland. There was no "England", "Ireland" or "Scotland", we were all "British", apparently. If you stated otherwise, you were mocked and ridiculed, thus "Little Englander" for anyone who cared about issues affecting English people directly. Not much has changed, it seems. Little Englanders do not want to see England (note England, not Britain) take on some sort of superpower role. They want their politicians to address inequality and poverty suffered by English citizens first before attempting to tackle the problems of the world.

No I do not. England has a much greater economy and currently subsidises Scotland in tax. These are facts.

The stupidest contradiction I’ve read in the 8 months I’ve been here is you criticising the decision of the UK to leave the EU but then saying Scotland will do alright outside of the UK. It’s so stupid it’s insane.

The only reason you say that, I don’t actually think you think it, is because you hate the Tories so much and the SNP hate them too.

Little Englander denigrated the growth of the Empire, especially as expansionism shirked responsibility to those living in poverty in England at the time. There were those who had tried to erase the identity of England entirely and replace it with "British" identity, similarly to what they tried to do in Ireland.

It's pretty clear what West Dids was meaning though and it was a bit more simplistic than what you're trying to paint.
Wherever it's true or not I can't say, doubt anybody but Octavian does but just from following the thread it's obvious what he meant.
