The Squad planning thread

Doesn't look like much of a fullback at all from that. Big and strong though so could possibly develop into one like O'Reilly has. Just whether that's what we want for next season. We looked lost when Nunes wasn't starting this season. Very two footed and we seem to be stockpiling those atm

There are no traditional full backs now though? Football has moved on from that. Palestra is already an excellent player and i think he could make a further leap with better players and coaches.

Maza has gone dead according to Martin the second midfielder is Tonali
I wonder how much we would spend on the next midfielder, 100m again on Tonali just seems high but guess depends on how much we value that position and how much we get back for Nico G/Kov/Reijnders.

MGW would be 75m, Fernandes at West Ham is 85m - I wonder if we do start looking at European markets again and a player like Maza IF we deem any of these deals too expensive.

Nico G out with Tonali in sounds like the plan then?
I’d much rather keep Gonzalez for now than sign Tonali. Rodri desperately needs runners in beside him and Anderson and Gonzalez would offer that and also allow him games off.

If Rodri does extend, it will be interesting to see his terms. He turns 30 in a fortnight and we can't yet be convinced that he’s fully recovered and is capable of playing another two seasons. I've no problem with him staying, but the succession plan should be starting, much like it was when Rodri himself came.

Bouaddi is still available, Reis is coming back, and Dada-Mascoll offers tantalising promise.

I guess Maresca may just want ready made now mate in midfield?

If Tonali is 100m then the plot is lost even with inflation adjusted it’s ridiculous how much is Pedri, and PSG midfielders ? Double ? Everyone there is Neymar transfer to pay 220m ? I don’t understand how the guys in charge of this sport haven’t done anything to stop this nonsense.

Much like house prices players are valued only at what clubs are prepared to pay. Needs will drive that want and gazumping is likely.

United seem to desperately want Anderson and might try and outbid us. We tend to walk if it becomes an auction although we might have made a promise to the player or his agent.

Going to be an interesting summer as we have room in the squad and plenty of room in the salary pot as well as a few quid available. Not sure what we can safely add to the amortisation list but as 100m = 20m on a five year deal we can surely go big if necessary.
