From the noises emenating all the time in player interviews I have noticed an exceptional attitude from the team. I think it will be very much a squad game this season and we will see this more and more as the season progresses. I think the competition is as fierce as it has ever been and if you are left out the team one match then they are working that extra level in training to try and force the managers hand.
I would love and hate to Roberto in equal measure. You are having to tell absolute world class players that they are on the bench or in some cases have not made the squad. You are telling players that would start at most clubs in the world that they are not playing today. It is truly a crazy and unique situation at this club and yet they will all be appeased by the knowledge that every player will receive game time through rotation be that exercising the luxury of resting key players and still winning matches, injury or suspension.
I no longer buy into all these training bust ups, the players hating Mancini that has been reported early on in his management of the club. I am so glad to see such a group of highly talented players with an excellent winning mentality working so hard for game time. It bodes well as the players know that they'll have to be in the form of their life or a player of equal quality may take their place.
The build up play has been fascinating this season and the team work seems to have came on leaps and bounds. It has been like watching FIFA games lately and it is a joy to watch. I have never been so confident in the management and players at this club in all my years of supporting this wonderful football club.
I just hope they do not become complacent. They have achieved nothing yet but three points and cannot afford to rest on their laurels in an ever competative premier league. The saying that if you do not strengthen transfer window after transfer window meaning if you stand still, you go backwards has never been so true!
