The Stone Roses/Ian Brown

Didn't see them in their heyday but I did go to Heaton Park a couple of years ago. I agree that Ian Brown's not much of a singer but I thought that the rest of the band were good instrumentally, given how long they'd been retired. John Squire's up with the best guitarists around, other than the giants of the early seventies.

Granted Brown would never win X Factor (is that a bad thing??)

For me, the vibe the Roses create outweighs the "quality" of Ian Brown's vocals.

Squire, Mani and Reni have all been mentioned in the "Manchester Supergroup" thread

The Stone Roses are no Bee Gees are they?
It's hard to describe bands and music in general as shite.
Unless it's Kanye West that is.

Whatever happened to their promise of new material?
glad someone else is thinking that , i was starting to think that id dreamt they had said that in their press conference , although the gap between the first album and second coming suggests they dont tend to rush these things

A couple of decent songs and that's it. I honestly don't understand the cult following they have.
