"The brutal pitch conditions favoured City with their clumsy, bludgoening style of football. Burnley were not able to play their fluid attacking, one-touch football that we know them for. For once, Shay Given's 'hoof it up the pitch' tactics paid off, as City attackers merely had to turn around and retrieve the ball out of the mud."

Something like that, I suppose!

(Edited for spelling)

Veering away from the print media, I've just finished watching our highlights on RTE. Mightily impressed, but the commentator took the shine off it for me. As the players were walking off the pitch the commentator (an old dodderer called Jimmy Magee) came out with "6-1, but it's not the record away win in the premiership. That is held by M********* U******, who beat Nottingham Forest 8-1. Yes, factually, it's correct. But why the fuck bring a game 10-15 years back into it? They just can't cut the apron strings over here. TVVATS.

A little snippet for you

"...Burnley hit back, however, with Robbie Blake dragging a shot narrowly wide.

City extended their lead in the 20th minute with Vieira's first goal for the club. He powered home a header following a corner from Johnson.

Burnley were refusing to lie down and Graham Alexander whipped in a shot from the edge of the area in the 27th minute that went narrowly over the crossbar.

This was a spirited response by the home side and six minutes later Fletcher dragged a shot wide of the post..."

Pretty lucky to sneak a 6-1 win by all accounts :)

What? Twice?
;-)

And when Burnley came out in the second half, the weather had already been arranged. Despite their webbed fingers, the inbreeds were unable to con the ref as they had done in the previous game at Coms. Nugent was especially quiet and not diving to his usual standards and after that Scottish striker they have scored, it was obvious the Brain Lors had to take him off. Goodbye Dingles.
