There's been a lot of statements today by people of varying importance and a lot of them full of hot air so there seems to be a bit of an air of possibly stopping this which is, IMO, massively misguided.

We will start reaching the bargaining stage soon, and The Guardian have published and article on a document they've seen that guarantees over 3x the current solidarity payments. That's about €300m per year more than the current amount - and probably split between much fewer countries.

Presumably similar concessions will be made to the Premier League, and then clubs will be faced with 1) Kicking the clubs out and probably bankrupting themselves when the TV deal drops by 75%, or 2)keep the big 6 and get some money they desperately need in the pandemic. How many clubs in the PL who are never realistically going to get in the CL would take a cheque to make it guaranteed, but maybe guarantee their own survival as well? I think quite a few will consider it - they only need 1 to stop the league kicking them out.

Right now it's easy to be completely against this because no one knows much about it. By the time the 12 clubs have gone to their meetings, and laid out the bottom line...positions will soften.

The owners of the other 14 clubs are no less greedy, no less selfish than the 6 who are breaking away, and the truth is if they were offered a place they'd all take it. Remember project breakaway last year? Half the clubs who opposed it changed their tune as soon as they hear about the actual money they'd get from it.

I'm afraid there's no stopping this train.

Agreed - I posted this earlier today:
-------------------------------------------------------
People thinking this is just a bluff need to wake up - this is happening

No way that this is a bluff - the damage being caused each minute is irreversible

There is no longer a functioning relationship with any of the clubs involved and UEFA going forwards - unless those at board level at the clubs were removed - which wont happen

The next step in this will be getting a deal done with each prospective domestic league - and once we learn what revenue they will pocket from it then we will see it signed and sealed you watch
--------------------------------------------------------

and I will stand by that last sentence I put, which basically relates to what you have also mentioned

Surely before they embarked on this lunacy the clubs involved lawyers would have scrutinised every legal challenge that could be thrown their way? They'd have had to be totally insane if they haven't.

i am very pessimistic..All the measures taken by uefa or countries must already have been anticipated.
City could simply relocate its headquarters in ny, and call the team "city fc", leave the manchester. I doubt players would disliek the idea of living in ny rather than manchester. City also has a wordwide web of clubs, even one in french ligue2.
Perez sayin he d create his own world cup to counter the players ban, this looks like a final attempt to cancel qatar worldcup.

did he? He was asked what’s your reaction to it He waffled on never said I don’t agree with it it’s wrong if he was that against it why don’t he wear one of those shirts apparently there dressing room had one on each seat!
By saying he likes that West Ham have a chance to qualify for the CL he is saying he is against the ESL in the most diplomatic way he could.

Obviously I'm not going to support anyone else that would just be weird

But I'd seriously lose interest, with 2 games a week you generally have to plan a sizeable portion of your social life around watching your team, whether you go or not.

The CL group games are bleak and boring I hardly ever bother, I'm certainly not going to if there's 20 instead of 6.

Then if there's no domestic cups and it's largely irrelevant with where you finish in the league, the weekends become much less appealing as well.

I'd probably sit down and watch the "Superbowl" or whatever the equivalent will be called, but beyond that can't say i'd be interested.
