They'd shoot themselves in the foot. A champions league without most of the big draw clubs? PSG and Bayern may as well just go straight to the final. If this is the outcome then I hope the twelve clubs go ahead with the ESL but modify it so it's more competitive and other club's can enter. Just a direct opposition to the champions league, effectively killing that off

Apart from us & Chelsea, I don't think any of the other 4 PL clubs are going to be bothering the later stages of the CL for a while.

That headline is misleading, probably deliberately to. The article states the ones that haven't pulled out all together may cop the two years, the other 7 who have "settled" are looking at massive fines.

I'm not so sure Liverpool can't be as bad again surely? We mock the rags but they have improved and could strengthen. Arsenal and Spurs probably fit into not progressing too far.

Massive fines and losing the revenue from the champions league for two years could end up being the same. It's going to be a shitshow whatever happens and then we have the organisers of the ESL threatening huge fines for pulling out
