This isn’t a large amount. City will pay £1.49 million the same as the other eight clubs. In addition only 5% of competition revenues earned in the 2023/2024 season (not this season)

RM Barca and Juve could be in big trouble though.

Slap on the wrist. Surprised.
Ric, I hear, has volunteered to pay for City.

Funny how little muck has been thrown our way on this as we are all lumped in with the others.

If we'd been fined any different, or separately but the same amount, the media would be putting the boot in on cheating city at it again etc.

But at 1.49m fine, a few bad apples off the UEFA board in the process and united still have the Glazers in charge. Not bad going. If UEFA take a stand against the instigators (although you could argue a couple of the red English clubs should be in that bracket too) and provide reason for it, then fair play. Certainly feels like Ceferin has had enough of Perez and Madrid on particular.

Be interesting to hear Khaldoon at the end of the season though on this. Why on earth we thought Americanisation was the future of our sport, and one the fans would embrace, I'll never know. Next step would have been games in Florida and California, and then it's not long before the whole 'franchise' is being considered for relocation.

I find this whole thing of punishment quite weird. So clubs plan to break away. How is that against any rules? Not agreeing to it by far, but apparently it seems to be in the UEFA law they can punish clubs who making plans to break away?

And why a punishment for prizemoney in 23-24 season? Why not 22-23 or 25-26?
Or is it because in 23-24 the new CL formula is starting? It is. And we all know whatever happens, that season all the 9 Super League clubs that got punished now, will take part in this CL.

UEFA comes out as the big ‘winner’ and behaves like the touchables again straight away. I’m sure however the clubs owners will have demanded a few changes of their own. Let’s see if this new Champions League will not turn out to be a Super League in disguise.

In its currently proposed format, it IS the superleague by another name.
Privileges for G14 clubs, AGAIN.
Unless eveyone is equal, it is just another fix.

Contracts were signed so it was more than a plan. The ESL still exists contractually. That's the nub of it. And clubs can only play in UEFA sanctioned competitions.

If you sign a contract for a house, then decide you're not going ahead with the purchase, you will be penalised.
