wasn't aware we were in debt.
Every trading organisation is in debt: companies owe money to employees, the tax man, suppliers.

City owe money for transfers and a lease on the stadium. This is less than the amounts city are owed from others for transfers, sponsorship, tv, etc.

It’s the net position that matters and city have nothing to worry about on that front, unlike a lot of the others.

The ESL was intended though as a rival to the Champions League and to be run in parallel with the Premier League and other clubs. Many have made the point before that the Champions League is becoming a super league and that it damages the Premier League by rocket fueling those clubs who are in it, hence we get a Sky 4.

The ESL that was mooted would have given City a lot of money. I am slightly worried that we accepted entrance to it. One theory was that it was a rope-a-dope, a tactic to get Man Utd and Liverpool to show their hand, launch it, and then shoot them down, or it was straightforward greed. Both are possible.
I'd accept us being punished, in line with the other 5 clubs, if we've broken a current rule. If that's a UEFA rule then it's UEFA punishment, if it's a Premier League rule then it's a PL punishment. For it to be acceptable, it would have to be across the board and 'fit the crime'. What would be totally unacceptable, for any of the clubs, is that they invented a retrospective rule and punished us under that or that it was a revenge punishment.

Hang on, there's a howling mob of self-identified victims here and they want acknowledgement of their high moral standing and a grovelling apology and they want it all now. Fuck explanations.
And there’s posters like you, who resort to insulting people who have genuine concerns and hate the way the club have acted.
We were part of a scheme that could have literally destroyed football. What on earth do you expect the reaction to be to that?

I think I’ll join you on your perch

I'm volunteering for some punishment on behalf of City given by a six foot twenty something blonde goddess, like a young Heidi Klum, that should do.

Back in 1980, if an investor came along and pump-primed a rival club like Sheikh Masnour did with Man City you would certainy feel this to be unfair. We followed the Chelski model with a difference. Roman keeps pumping money in. We stopped. We are actually everything the FFP is supposed to be about. Sustainability but most of football would laugh at this.

No all that matters is winning, and absolutely hammering Liverpool and Man Utd into the ground. We had 2 years where Liverpool were plotting to destroy us. Seriously we were close to the edge. We need to remember that always and act accordingly.
We know our past and will embrace our future

Love our owners and what they have done not just for us but for my City

Hope they did this to fuck the dippers and the Rags and Tebas

I was praying for Rodney Marsh to put money into City because Swales lost the plot and somehow dismantled a great team/club

I was in the forward with franny brigade

I wanted the money but it was because I wanted to compete on a level playing field

I was happy that Chelsea got the money as it pissed the dominant top 3 pigs in the trough off and someone else was having a go

This ESL was helping the pigs in the trough get rid of their debt and it was us who was helping them

I honestly think transfer fees and wages need to be regulated, capped an standardized.

Maximum transfer fee for a player 80m. For which each club can only have 2 in their squad. Next tier - 70m of which you can have 4 players. Next tier - 60m of which you can have 5 players etc.

Then wages follow a similar path. Tier one players earn 200k per week of which you can have 2 in your squad. 2nd tier players earn 180k pw of which you can have another two. Tier 3 160k pw of which you can have another 2 etc.

It's a shame it's the players that would suffer but the wages are completely unsustainable. If they want to earn more then they can fuck off to China or the US.

As for these 6 greedy **** clubs, they have a nerve. They have overseen periods where TV deals have increased multifold, sponsorships, naming right, league and CL prize money, 3 new shirts every season, ticket prices etc have all gone through the rook. And they're still hundreds of millions in debt. The ESL might have made them more money initially but three years down the line they'd be back to square 1. They are not fit to run football clubs.

Exactly. It was essentially the same product but packaged differently. The only structural change was the reduction from 22 to 20 teams in the early years but aside from that 3 teams up/3 teams down has remained constant.
And the fact that the top teams kept all the broadcasting revenue rather than sharing across the league as before.

Unlike the proposed super league, the Premier league has sporting integrity, but it was and is a financial grab by the biggest clubs just as much as the superleague.

so 12 clubs can decide they are above everything and everyone and try destroy the structures of the game without consequence?

lads you're on cloud cuckoo land

You're as morally bankrupt as the cunts who dreamed this up if you think this should be excused without punishment
...and there goes the ignore button

You don't even know why the club acted the way they did. You've just decided you know better.

You're not big fat Sam are you? He's been calling out for us to get punished today.

Here we have our own, calling out for the club to be punished

Answer me this. If we get the punishment you crave, will you sleep with a smile on your face again?
