The Telegraph set to release evidence of corruption in the Premier League withing the coming days

Lawyers for one of the agents (ex rag youth player) is saying that he embellished a bit to get a deal done. Could be that, but he's probably protecting himself more than anything.

Pagliari claims he made up the stories.

Bungs are only paid because an agent wants a manager to buy someone he wouldnt ordinarily buy (ie not good enough). Or wants the club to spend more than they would ordinarily spend.

So the club loses out, and who do you think makes up that shortfall?

The purchase is usually wanted, the buyer funds the purchase totally which includes tax on this purchase together with the cash incentive which is tax free to both parties.
The loser is the Inland Revenue on the undeclared amount.

The buyer frankly decides on the valuation and will only buy if he considers the valuation will contribute to profit. He knows about the split and takes it into consideration otherwise where will it come from ?

Why pay the bung if the club want to buy him anyway, or want to pay the asking price. It's normally to buy a player the manager doesnt really want (but gets a bung for) or to bump up the price the club pays with the manager getting a cut.

It's not a victimless crime.

I think the allegation is that managers take a bung in return for getting the agents client the player a more lucrative contract. I.e. The buying club pay out more money than they need to.

Was certain people running off to get an injunction a lie too? How can you suppress a story if there wasn't even one there to begin with?

Yep, with already rich managers and players getting a bit richer and the club looking at other sources to make up the shortfall. Maybe a bit dramatic, but I consider managers who take bungs are effectively stealing off football supporters.

Let's face it, human nature dictates that we all want a big name on the list. To be fair, we got spoilt in the first 24 hours when Fat Sam took the plunge. The England manager no less, and anything after that is going to be small fry unless they name some huge managerial name like Ferguson or Wenger, and that ain't going to happen. It'll probably just fizzle out now.
I think there are big names to come, they started with a big one to grab attention, and then went after some of the lesser lights, but "bigged up" the story to keep the clicks going, but they'll wait till the end for the juciest bits I expect, I think this has a long way to run yet.

HMRC will certainly be very interested in any "brown envelopes" in football, especially after they lost with Redknapp.
