Winning the league just got that little bit harder.
Ffs bayern
Yep, I imagine Liverpool will have the semi won after the first leg so will be able to rest players etc. Can’t believe the luck Liverpool have had in their champs league run this season. Quadruple is very much on for them

Think it’s a tad disrespectful to Villarreal who have just knocked out Juventus & Bayern away from home, to say Liverpool will have the tie won after the first game.
It’s more the way they play and the fact the first leg is at anfield that makes me believe that.

For example the way they take goal kicks with both cbs split either side of the gk and play from 6 yards is just asking for trouble against Liverpool with their press imo.

Liverpool thrive off winning the ball high up the pitch and villareal will give them ample opportunities to do that. It’s not disrespectful it’s just a bad match up tactically imo

Until teatime Saturday at least. Personally won't be too bothered if we go out tomorrow as it is probably our best chance of what would be a hugely satisfying double.

Your right, they have done extremely well and I hope that continues in the next round.

Going out today won't help us on Saturday at all. If anything, the players will feel fatigue a bit more. I remember a study showing that players don't experience tiredness after wins in contrast to losses. Losing vs Atlético would be a huge blow for the team and may shake our confidence. So, better we win, even if we need 120 minutes to do it.

To reach a CL final by beating Benfica (3rd in Portugal) and Villarreal (7th in Spain) is as easy as it gets. Liverpool are virtually guaranteed to go to Paris. Hopefully we'll reach the CL final as well. A tie with Real would be great. And the excitement from such a tie around the club would help in the PL too.

I suppose I think a bit like rag Roy who places the league well above the CL which for me would just be a nice consolation. As you correctly point out look how easy it has been for the dippers and in fairness Sporting were little more than Champioship standard in the last 16.
I would fancy us to beat Real if we get through tonight and that would set up a clash with the dippers most likely. To lose both the league, a semi and god forbid a final to the dippers would be unbearable. The entire summer would be in ashes.
Being cruxified on Friday would seem like a better option.

That'll also mean Liverpool's biggest challenger is out of the CL. Already they've got Bayern and Chelsea out yesterday.

Profligate means to waste money/resources on things you don’t really need/can’t really afford.
I know, but the beauty of language is that it’s elastic and can be extrapolated. As The Bard would attest.

Plus ‘profligate in front of goal’ has become quite a well worn saying recently… Tyler, bastion of vernacular as he is, says it often!

Only if KdB and Walker are ok for the next matches... Im already feckin worry...!!!

We have a really thin squad as it is despite the media narrative - particularly at full back. Injuries could still play a huge unfortunate part in our season. Hopefully Walker, De Bruyne and Foden are just a bit walking wounded after tonight and nothing more serious.

7 wins in a row is what we need. I have zero trust in Liverpool's opponents that they help themselves and us any way.
Maybe Conte and Spurs can get a draw but thats all.
refs also will make sure any potential trouble Pool can face will be sorted out.

People saying United and Everton might get something against Pool, fucking hell easy 4-0 both games. They might improve their GD more than we do in same two rounds at home vs Brighton, Watford.
