It was never that big of course, but still, an 8 or 7 point lead or whatever it was (if Liverpool won their games in hand) when they were in a bit of a poor run of form around Christmas and New Year and Salah and Mane were heading away to AFCON.
It was a sizeable lead.
Yep. After we beat Chelsea we were 14 points ahead of the dippers but they had 2 games in hand, so you can say it’s an 8 point lead we’ve chucked away which is still a sizeable gap

I realise all of that but that means nothing in the final run up, we've seen it before....pressure's on for us, last night may affect players, Liverpool seemingly cleaning up all in front. I hope you're right but in the meanwhile I'm going to take up supporting cricket, whatever that is....
Good choice. Will do us all a favour

I honestly don't believe we could realistically expect a much easier run-in than what we have. If we don't get the job done, it is squarely on us.

We're playing 7th, 8th, 10th & 13th, it's about as mid-table as possible, none of them competing for anything.

Wolves are 15th, West Ham 18th and Villa 19th in the form table too.

Wolves can still finish 7th which gets them in the Europa Conference League.

If West Ham go out tonight they'll be trying to finish 6th to qualify for the Europa League again which is still doable or at the very least secure 7th place.

Newcastle might not have anything tangible to fight for but they have a lot of players playing for their futures at the club who will want to be part of the journey going forward and not part of a summer clear-out.

Another thing to take in to consideration is opposition players wanting to be the ones to make the headlines by deciding the title race. Although I suppose that applies to both of us.

I take your point though, I'd rather have these than Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Burnley or Everton.

None of the 4 teams we have to play are any good.

Newcastle were on a great run against dump teams but as soon as they played someone good, they looked like they had never played the game before.

Wolves are average all over the pitch and without the pace of Traore they really shouldn't trouble us as much on the break.

West Ham are just a Moyes team, very dogged. I don't buy into this belief that they have become a top team. They are currently the best, of what is a bunch of about 10 clubs that could trade places any given season.

Villa like Wolves are very average all over the pitch.

All the hard work has been done throughout the season and I honestly don't believe we could realistically expect a much easier run-in than what we have. If we don't get the job done, it is squarely on us.
Fully agree with that but the way we folded last night leaves me more than a wee bit concerned.

Sometimes you get surprise weekends where one team loses or draws but then the other fails to capitalize and gets the same result. However, I just don't see it with these two; they've been over the course before in 2018-19, so they know that winning is paramount.

Conte you fucker, you and your team relaxed all week, go and imagine you playing against City this Saturday that would raise your game you fuckers.
if Son does a shit game I hope North Korea will kidnap him.

My biggest concern is kdb and dias not looking 100%fit . Those two are the type of players who can drag us to finishing line . Walker looks fucked and if ake is fit play him instead of zinky.
