How many points will be needed to win the league?

With Fulham, West Ham, Forest and Wolves next up, we have to fill our boots before it gets harder. The West Ham game will be tricky but I’d fancy us to win fairly easily in the others. If we can be 19/21 then that would be a great start and set us up nicely. 21/21 even better!
Absolutely this get the new players bedded in and the injured recovered and we will be ok
The momentum will build

I think Opta have a table predictor, can't confirm whether it's better than 538, probably not, we were 90.2% to win the league before the season, we're now at 93.3%.
Thanks for this - looks similar. 538 I think had more future games shown, but the table looks to be based on similar data.

Unbelievable that, with the money there is at the top of the PL, we're given such a high chance of winning. Pep really does make that difference.

Nothing I've seen so far makes me think City won't win at a canter. Liverpool showed character today but they'll concede too many goals and teams like Brentford will have a field day against them

Serious question from a clearly ignorant Londoner. What's the reason for City's animosity towards Liverpool? I remember seeing a client in Manchester a few years ago during City's centurion season, he was a United fan and was adamant City had to win the league ahead of Liverpool. Fair enough I thought, historical rivalry between United and the victims and all that. Cab driver back to the station was a City fan, he was saying that he had some sympathy for United (Mourinho was manager then) and that he'd support United 100% over Liverpool.

So genuine question, is it just a Manchester vs Liverpool thing? I'd just assume United would be THE rivalry.

In London obviously teams are local rivals but basically every London team seems to hate Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal don't mind each other that much, West Ham hate Millwall, Chelsea have appalling fans but I'd cheer them in Europe against a European team but not against another PL side, I do like Brentford and Fulham and so on. But absolutely many fans in London would express a dislike for Liverpool, but that's based on their fanbase. There's no animosity towards Everton so it isn't a City of Liverpool thing.

I agree. They do have arguably the deepest attack in the league but their midfield is slow and their defense is currently all over the place.

3 games gone and some people think it's done....... Let's see how it all looks in early January.
People always comment about how Europe will test the squads of other teams.

We will be the squad tested most this season!

Last few games we’ve looked like a team from the early 90s when teams only had two players on the bench because despite having nine on the bench, we simply aren’t bringing any more than the odd one of them on.

And it’s not like we’ve got a huge injury list. Only three were absent yesterday (Akanji, de Bruyne and Stones), so even adding them in would still see us with the smallest squad of players that will be used regularly for many years.

When Nunes arrives and Camcelo leaves we will have 1 spare squad space and our squad is higher in quality than anyone elses too.Our squad really isn’t that small.

It is when you’re looking at players who are realistically coming off the bench.

Last two games you look at the bench and, other than Foden yesterday, nobody else was coming on in either of the last two games… and we were fucked at the end of the game last week, some were struggling to meet their mark before the Newcastle players were making the pass late on.

We’ve only got three out. Imagine if we had five or six, even with Nunes (possibly the most underwhelming signing under Pep, but that’s a different discussion) - which happens regularly. There are currently nine teams in the league with five or more players out injured (SheffUtd have 9; Chelsea have 10).

I’m not saying we won’t cope, but we’ll be tested most.

Our younger players Lewis, Palmer and McAtee are very good players, When available our bench could be 9 from Ortega, Ake,Akanji, Nunes,Kovacic,Doku, Alvarez,Lewis,Gomes Phillips,Mcatee, Palmer. Nobody has a better squad/ bench.
What would you answer be anyway we would only be allowed 1 more player in the squad.

There’s no answer as there’s no question really. What I’m saying is that we’ll be tested most as we’ll probably use the least amount of players, probably with a smaller amount of minutes spread than last season where our best player has come out after and said he can’t play as much again ongoing.

And they can’t talk proper, scouse spitty accent.

Pretty confident we’ll be on 21 points before we play Arsenal. If they drop points before that and we go there and beat them (as always) I think we will just run away with it

Rodri is the issue, but I think that's addressed whith either Kovacic or Nunes able to play games there.

OK cheers, so its the behaviour of the club and fans then. Pretty much the same reason a lot of us down south don't like Liverpool either. Appreciate the heads up.

I just want us to win the first 7 before Arsenal away, once we beat Newcastle that looked doable.

Pressure will be on Arsenal to beat us if we do that.
