The Tottenham Thread 12/13

We'll see, I'd be surprised if Bale leaves this summer regardless of where we finish. You never know of course but I'd be pretty surprised.

Have you seen how many points Bale's amassed in the Fantasy Football league compared to your other players?
It is a statistic that is truly amazing and shows how much Tottenham have relied on Bale for results this season

The thing with bale is his stock will never be higher, he has had an outstanding season and it will be interesting whether he can repeat that season, if he doesnt his value goes and it is unlikely that he will be able to drag spurs into a place in the champiosn league so they get hurt both ways.

Basically spurs are asking him to play better than he has done because even playing as well as he has done its still only got you to a likely fifth and thats with chelsea, city, arsenal and even united (though they won the league) having what they would consider to be poor seasons, you also have to assume that liverpool will be better next season and then theirs always a surprise package. To throw all your eggs in one baskt and assume that bale is going to be that good again next season is foolish really

Hope Spurs get 4th. Really don't want Arsenal to qualify for the CL.
Mind you with their inflated new sponserships, to which nothing has been said yet everyone had complained about ours at the time including Arsenal, they perhaps don't need the CL money as much

It's out of Spurs hands. All they can do is beat Sunderland on Sunday and hope. Chelsea are safe as, due to goal difference, it's take a miracle for Spurs to catch them. Arsenal have Wigan at the Emirates, and Newcastle at St James' Park. I can't see them not beating Wigan, there's no way they put in anything like the performance they did on Saturday. Then it's a trip to Newcastle, who are safe, having nothing to play for, and have been woeful this season. If Arsenal need to beat Newcastle to secure Champion's League football, and I believe they will need to do that as Spurs will beat Sunderland, the I think they'll do it. It's 5th place and the Europa League for Spurs as far as I can see.

Wigan will be more of a tough opponent I think than newcastle, they have to win for survival. It's the only game I have my fingers crossed for as pardew has basically said his team have a day off against arsenal

<a class="postlink" href="http://metro.co.uk/2013/05/12/alan-pardew-arsenal-can-beat-newcastle-4-0-for-all-i-care-3756457/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://metro.co.uk/2013/05/12/alan-pard ... e-3756457/</a> good way for some people not to buy a ticket! lol

Poor by Pardew though:

Alan Pardew warns Tottenham fans: Arsenal can beat Newcastle 4-0 for all I care.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has risked the wrath of Tottenham fans by admitting he does not care if his team lose their final game of the season against Arsenal after securing Premier League survival at Loftus Road.

‘I’m very pleased. It was a very important game for this football club,’ said Pardew.

‘I thought the first ten minutes we were almost playing with a noose around our neck we were so tense and tight.

‘I don’t really care if Arsenal win 4-0 [next weekend], if I’m honest. I’m sure Spurs will, but I only care that our fans enjoy themselves.’

Suure your fans will enjoy themselves if Arsenal beat you 4:0. What a stupid thing to say..

...it would also mean that Sunderland would finish above Newcastle.

I'm sure that will go down well on Tyneside, fog or no bloody fog!

how was Pardew was manager of the season last year?Hope Spurs get 4th

Because we won the title and they couldn't give to to Mancini. Could be argued that he was expected to challenge/win it given his resources. After a summer in which Utd outspent most, be interesting to see if they give it to Ferguson or someone like Laudrap who I think deserves it more

Nailed on Moyes for that award.

Back on topic and through gritted teeth.... Come on Wigan. Get a point off Whinger tomorrow.
