How's you champions league campaign going.Sorted a batch of Lasagne for the Arsenal squad yet?
:)
Spurs are on their way to Europa. Tottenham's gone and bottled it again.
I don't think we've bottled it this season, we're actually on a 7 game unbeaten run right now and if we win this weekend it will be 5 wins and 3 draws in the final 8 games which is very good form. Problem is Arsenal and Chelsea have been ridiculously good. In the 9 games since we beat Arsenal at WHL, they have 7 wins and 2 draws. That's 2.56 points per game which would equate to 97 points over a season. That would be almost impossible for us to keep up with considering we played you, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Everton in that run, and had some other tough away games as well. And even still we've made it so they require a win on the last day, which would mean their last 10 games would be 8 wins and 2 draws, 26/30 points, which would equate to 99 points over a season. Chelsea have 5 wins and 2 draws in the last 7 games, which is also extremely good form. We have 4 wins and 3 draws in the last 7 games.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have played the last 23 combined games unbeaten, that's unbelievable for top 4 contenders. It's been a really tough fight, we look like we're going to set a points record for our team and still not make it. I looked back through the Premier league seasons on wikipedia and for the last, like, 15 years, 70 points has easily been enough to qualify for 4th. The one year we get over 70 points we don't make it lol! Last year we also lost out in a ridiculous way.
But I'm still hopeful for next season, I think AVB's done a fantastic job and in many ways we're in a transition season, if we sign some good players I think we can finish 10 points or so higher next season, then we'll probably still miss out on CL somehow lol.
I'm not too upset about it, we're not quite as good as Arsenal and Chelsea yet, but
we have learned how to grind out results. We've only lost 2 out of the last 21 games so it's not even close to a Redknapp level meltdown. Until Levy backs his manager and buys about 3-4 players that we need - a midfielder, at least 1 striker, and a left back - we won't break into the top 4. We have the money from selling in past transfer windows, no excuse this summer for not improving the squad.
