The Tottenham Thread 12/13

Tottenham Hotspur's U21s beat Everton in the Premier League Semi-Final last night at White Hart Lane 3-2.

Jon Obika scored a brace sandwiched between Alex Pritchard's goal.

The other Semi-Final will be played tonight between Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Final will probably be played on 20th May at Old Trafford or Anfield.

We'll see, I'd be surprised if Bale leaves this summer regardless of where we finish. You never know of course but I'd be pretty surprised.

Have you seen how many points Bale's amassed in the Fantasy Football league compared to your other players?
It is a statistic that is truly amazing and shows how much Tottenham have relied on Bale for results this season

Yes that's true to an extent, though I think the extent is slightly exaggerated. He's a world class player though, and that is what those types of players do.

It's still unlikely that he won't be a Spurs player by the end of the transfer window. And zero chance if we make 4th.

Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-0 tonight in the U21 Premier League Semi-Final.

They will now host Tottenham Hotspur in the Final at Old Trafford on Monday 20th May, KO 19:00.

I don't think we've bottled it this season, we're actually on a 7 game unbeaten run right now and if we win this weekend it will be 5 wins and 3 draws in the final 8 games which is very good form. Problem is Arsenal and Chelsea have been ridiculously good. In the 9 games since we beat Arsenal at WHL, they have 7 wins and 2 draws. That's 2.56 points per game which would equate to 97 points over a season. That would be almost impossible for us to keep up with considering we played you, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Everton in that run, and had some other tough away games as well. And even still we've made it so they require a win on the last day, which would mean their last 10 games would be 8 wins and 2 draws, 26/30 points, which would equate to 99 points over a season. Chelsea have 5 wins and 2 draws in the last 7 games, which is also extremely good form. We have 4 wins and 3 draws in the last 7 games.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have played the last 23 combined games unbeaten, that's unbelievable for top 4 contenders. It's been a really tough fight, we look like we're going to set a points record for our team and still not make it. I looked back through the Premier league seasons on wikipedia and for the last, like, 15 years, 70 points has easily been enough to qualify for 4th. The one year we get over 70 points we don't make it lol! Last year we also lost out in a ridiculous way.

But I'm still hopeful for next season, I think AVB's done a fantastic job and in many ways we're in a transition season, if we sign some good players I think we can finish 10 points or so higher next season, then we'll probably still miss out on CL somehow lol.

I'm not too upset about it, we're not quite as good as Arsenal and Chelsea yet, but we have learned how to grind out results. We've only lost 2 out of the last 21 games so it's not even close to a Redknapp level meltdown. Until Levy backs his manager and buys about 3-4 players that we need - a midfielder, at least 1 striker, and a left back - we won't break into the top 4. We have the money from selling in past transfer windows, no excuse this summer for not improving the squad.

As in, play like shit for 90 minutes and have Bale save our asses.

Not even trying to wind you up but that really has been the case in just about every Spurs match I've seen recently.

I look forward to seeing how "fantastic" AVB will remedy this next season so that maybe you'll start putting in good TEAM performances to achieve your goals and not garbage covered up by one man's brilliance every weekend as it is now.

I am sure even the most staunch chelsea fan will disagree with that. They have not been ridiculously good. They have been underachievers this season.

and your real transition will come when Bale leaves you for the swamp.

Overall yes, but they've found their form in the final part of the season.

Bale won't leave this summer, there's a very small chance of it happening and more likely that he signs an extension. Also if he does leave it will only be to Real Madrid, there's 0 chance of him going to another Premier league club.

Anyway my point was that we haven't bottled it like we used to do when Redknapp was manager, we've actually been on a pretty good run of form.
